Writer's block is a myth. Yes, it is. No matter what other stories you've been telling yourself about it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You can decide to tell different stories about your writer's block, the lack of it thereof. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ We're here to show you how: 10 Ways to Overcome Writer's Block ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It happens to the best of us. It's inevitable. You hate yourself for not being able to continue, and you're ready to start cussing. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Writer's block. Everybody struggles with it. Even the best writers in the world. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But before I provide you with some tips, let's see what causes writer's block: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. Go for a walk. Get out of the that "dry" space you're in for a few minutes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2. Eliminate distractions. Leave your phone in the other room. Stop the internet. Whatever works for you - just do it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3. Do an exercise. Anything that gets your blood going. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4. Read a book or an article. Usually, this helps a lot for ideas and creativity. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 5. Create a routine. Creativity comes with writing. In other words, action precedes motivation. Set yourself a daily goal, and strive to stick with it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 6. Listen to music. Electronic music does the magic for me. For some, it might be jazz or classical music. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 7. Spend time with friends or people who make you feel good. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 8. Call an old pal and have a good laugh. It works wonders. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 9. Brainstorm ideas and arrange them in bullet points. Sometimes, all you need is to jot down several ideas, and come back to them later on. You'll see how well that works. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 10. Storytelling vs telling stories Are you vulnerable or oversharing? There's a fine line between being vulnerable and oversharing when telling stories to connect with your audience. Let's put it this way, vulnerability means nothing more than being emotionally available to your audience, showing empathy towards their situation. It has little to do with your personal story going on behind the scenes. Showing this empathy in the stories you share means you share stories about their struggles, their aspirations, their beliefs. And you assure them that you know how to help them. This way you show up from a place of service, you know what stories to tell to inspire them to take action, and what stories to share to motivate them to keep going. If you're oversharing in the name of vulnerability, you're creating a vortex of devaluation cycle. You're devaluing your audience's aptitude to make things shift for the better. You're devaluing your time and efforts to build loyal followers. Thus, you're devaluing your vision and mission. Harsh as it sounds, but your audience don't care for your challenges, your aspirations, or your beliefs as long as there's nothing in them for their support to reach their goals.
