Did someone say core?😎 This exercise is guaranteed to have you sweating! . . . Side planks are a fantastic exercise to strengthen the core. The isometric contraction of the obliques along with the surrounding core muscles is great for muscular endurance. The side lying position also engages the lats on that side. . . . Elevating the top leg onto a Swiss ball creates a number of obstacles. The first is maintaining balance on the ball while in the plank position. Secondly, the adductor muscles in the leg are activated by the leg pushing into the ball to Lee the body elevated. Two things I've noticed with alot my clients are slow feet and tight hips. Granted there are some exceptional athletes, however, most of those guys have neen exposed to sports at an early age. I've noticed how these two aspects correlate with their reaction time as well. Since I had 3 DBs and 1 athlete I thought it would be essential to focus on these things for this session. I don't get too caught up with the speed, as every athletes level is different, but focus more on laying down the groundwork.
