Broccoli sprouts may be one of the most powerful superfoods on the planet. When eaten, they produce a compound called sulforaphane, which is especially powerful in terms of its anti cancer properties, and as such a lot of scientific research has been done around it. Sulforaphane is the most potent, naturally occurring dietary activator of a powerful antioxidant gene called NRF2. There isn’t any food that contains more sulforaphane than broccoli sprouts apart from the seed itself.

Superfood salad. 🥗 . The kinda thing I whip up in ten minutes after a long day of work and the tail end of a cold. Also on day 27 of my cycle, so the nutrient-density is extra helpful right now (esp the iron) ... . Here’s what’s in this bad boy: loose leaf salad greens, red bell pepper, cilantro, steamed brussel sprouts (I drank the water they steamed in fyi:) broccoli sprouts, capers, crushed raw garlic clove, avocado, and a large can of oysters. I made a dressing out of extra virgin olive oil, lemon (from our tree), and nutritional yeast. And I sprinkled some mustard powder on top, which is clinically proven to enhance the bioavailability of the #sulphoraphane in the broccoli and brussel sprouts. 👌 ... . This whole process took about ten minutes and only took that long cause of the steaming I did. All the veggies came from local farms and the whole meal cost less than $6. I have leftovers to recreate this tmw, I feel great, AND in one meal I loaded up on: iron, zinc, protein, vitamin k1, vitamin C, vitamin E, folate, magnesium, biotin, potassium, thiamine, as well as antioxidant compounds clinically proven to combat cancer and aging found in the sprouts, olive oil, and cilantro. ... . Anyone who tells you eating well is impossible because of the time and money involved... is not making salads like this. Anyone who tells you eating nutrient-dense foods will be depriving yourself... is not making salads like this. Please don’t let your (or others’) limiting beliefs get in the way of feeling your best. I’m living proof of what’s possible. #wildchildsheeats 🥗
