Dasha will play Tamara Zidansek 🇸🇮 in the 1st round of the Australian Open. The draw came out last night (sorry for the late post) Dasha is in the top half of the draw and we'll see her in action on Tuesday. Dasha has never played Zidansek before. Zidansek's best career victory was over Daria Kasatkina at the Moscow River Cup last year. She has never passed the first round of a slam. She lost in qualifying last year. She has only had 5 wins at WTA tournaments on the hard courts (most of them were qualifying) She is ranked 78 in the world and has 752 points to her name. This year she has lost to Kuzmova in Auckland and Sasnovich in qualifying for Sydney. She is yet to win a set in 2018. Her career high ranking is 69 which she achieved at the end of the 2018 WTA season. Her best result on the WTA tour was making the semifinals of the Moscow River Cup on clay and making the doubles final in Tashkent with Olga Danilovic. Her win over Kasatkina has been her only Top 50 win. Kasatkina didn't play her best that day either and she fell in 3 sets. The weather for Tuesday is forecast for sunny skies and 35oC heat. Zidansek hasn't played much in Australia, so it might take a bit of getting used to. Zidansek is ranked 44 places below Gavrilova but as we know, ranking means nothing. We cannot underestimate Tamara. I wish Dasha all the best in her match against Tamara Tuesday. I know I will be watching and supporting her all the way! Go Dasha @Daria_Gav! #dariagavrilova#dashagavrilova#dasha#gavrilova#teamdasha#brisbanetennis#wta#tennis
