Today the gift I gave myself was a chance to get out and commune with nature... a chance to breathe in the fresh air, gather my thoughts, process this past week, and be grateful for all my blessings. As I slowly walked around, rebuilding my strength, I realized that sometimes things look dead or falling apart on the outside, but if you take a second look... really look closer, those “things” are much more beautiful than they seem. Give those moments a chance, nurture them, add a dose of real soulful and respectful love, and witness the transformative truth that lies within. You will realize in the rush of everyday life, or in the weakness of lacking time for true observation, there was a real honest beauty always present. True art. When you look deeply into nature you will understand everything better. Meditating in nature allows you to see life’s secret... patience. I feel blessed to be alive. I love the little moments life gives you... the unexpected things, like feeling the fresh air breathe into your lungs, watching the wind flow through the trees, enjoying the company of loved ones, a deep conversation, a rare connection with a friend, a reunion with someone you haven’t seen or spoken to in a long while, getting lost in a good book, going for a walk, feeling the universe hand you a dosage of hope, or just the simple feeling of being alive... the absolute amazing fact that we are here right now, breathing, thinking, loving, appreciating, and doing. In contemplating all the magic of my surroundings today, I found so many signs of inner strength to endure a lifetime. I am grateful for all the trials I have faced and for more than I can ever find the words to express. Thank you universe. #slowlyhealing#itsbeenalongmonth#gratitude#universe#soul#friendship#expression#support#strength#magic#breath#nature#meditation#walk#takingitslow#prayers#alive#alignment#unconditional#promisesarereal#strongerthanyesterday#moments#patience
🌬Ahhhhhh blissful Sunday!!! Do nothing unless I want to Sunday!!! . Feels like fresh air and wind in my wingggsss it been so long since I honoured Sunday!!! Perfect day to share the last of the elemental pieces.. AIR!!!!!!!!!.I'm gonna honour this element by spending the day on my air mattress!!!! Like sleeping on a cloud!!! 🤣 . Thanks for enjoying my little elemental interlude this last week, despite a Insta glitches it was a great week for life and art!! So much creation sharing and growth behind the scenes!!! Now it's time for the SPIRIT ANIMALS!!!!! I cant wait for this collection!!! . A note on lasts, as we on a "last" sort of day. This last batch was the last time I will be making more than one of each tapestry!!! So in the coming collections, there will no longer be recreations, or multiple versions of the same design made as originals. This is because large projects and changes are coming this year, and I simply won't have the time available. This doesn't mean however that there won't be more than one of each.. but that I will not be drawing them. Trust me, this will work out in both our favours as I am working towards my art being more available and more affordable to you. . Exciting times!!!! But for now!! Rest is best!!! . Happy Sunday!!! . #air#elemental#crystal#art#wind#breath#life#oxygen#elements#clouds#purple#handpainted#original#tiedye#textile#crystalart#crystallove#sunday#rest#recover#dream#joy#gratitude#growth#goodvibes#love#lilyloy
There are days where you just need to shut things out and get away. Go for a walk, listen to your favourite music - turn off reality for a little bit. I like taking photos because it pauses time for a little bit. Capture a point in time where I wasn’t worried about tomorrow, wasn’t worried about what others are doing around me. It’s nice to hit pause and enjoy simple things like going to the beach 🏖
Equanimity is an even-minded and even-hearted response to what we encounter. And sometimes that “what” is a “who”. In other words, we don’t just seek to relate with balance to all of the events in our lives, but also to all of the people in our lives. We may notice that it feels easier to aspire to an even-mindedness toward events than toward people. We intuitively understand that poise during a moment of challenge can help us respond wisely, and keep our nervous system from getting overwhelmed. When we contemplate treating all people with even-heartedness, though, we may feel resistance. Our protective shields may go up. But when we consider the possibility that all humans have the same basic needs, and that every action can be viewed as an attempt to meet a need, we begin to chip away at those shields. We can start to wonder what unmet need may be driving the behavior that we don’t like. We may not like how the person goes about trying to have their needs met, but we can separate behavior from person and see our shared humanity. We may find that we want to see the value of all beings as equal because it feels right and good and our own lives are enriched by it. We can set Equanimity as our destination with the knowledge that it may take us a while to get there and there may be bumps along the way. One way to help us find the route and stick to it, is to play the Just Like Me game. As we walk through the supermarket, or stand at the train platform, or sit in class, we can look at those around us one at a time and say to ourselves, “This person, just like me, wants to feel loved, cared for and supported.” And perhaps a simple, “May you be well." We hope you will join us this week as we rest in the felt sense of our shared humanity. *For a list of human needs, see page 115 of Oren Sofer’s wonderful new book, Say What You Mean. Community Sessions this Week: PLEASE NOTE, DUE TO THE HOLIDAY, THERE ARE NO MONDAY SESSIONS AT TRUMBULL LIBRARY.
Endless gratitude for all the beauty in this life 😌✨💗 It’s easy for us to get caught up and forget about all the blessings we have, focusing in on what we think is lacking or what is challenging us, but right now just take a moment to breath and be grateful. You are loved and you are doing a great job. 💞🌞
The longest most rewarding week in the past 12 months is coming to a close. @mana.yoga.studio opened on Tuesday and the energy and buzz from a busy studio in its first week lit up my skies. Retreat bookings for @mana.yoga.retreats reminded me of all the great places I get to buy plane tickets for this year. A few pulls on the heart stings paired with some unexpected loss have left me feeling a heavy + brought up a few things I’d like to move past. Nala finished her thesis finally and is submitting it MIT this week (with the help of me, she doesn’t have thumbs after all). What can I say, it’s a great life. It’s turning out very different than I had planned, but it’s pretty damn great.
Anyone else get inspired when they see a can of puréed pumpkin? Weights today, waffles tomorrow. 🥞 Don’t forget we have a new IHP class at @merrickhotyoga tomorrow at 3pm!!! If you miss that, come to 4:30 power Vinyasa. It’s gonna be cold so let’s bring on the heat!!

It has been a rough week here. There has been a lot to be grateful for mixed with a whole lot of yuck. Just 2 examples of a list of fun from this doozy of a week. 1. I celebrated my 9 month sober anniversary with a stomach bug that had me knocked out for two days but strangely happy to be reminded that I used to court that kind of sickness voluntarily when I drank. 2. My 7 year old son who we have been trying to potty train for about 5 years is officially in underwear all day!!!!! As that happened we found out we are losing his one on one aide at school who was soooooo helpful in getting there. Good and bad. Give and take. Growth and set backs. One step forward, one step back (now I will be singing Paula Abdul all night, plus now I am sure to go down a Wikipedia rabbit hole to find out wtf was up with DJ Scat Cat). Get knocked down, get back up. That kind of stuff. So these little snow drop flowers spoke to me out on a walk with E tonight. They will for sure get buried in snow and ice tonight but they will be right back up in the same spot as soon as it is warm enough.

There is a world before words.... When surges , as it will, can you stay close, and not numb it, or lash out? When bursts in the body, can you breathe into it, and not fuse with it, or run away into stories? When you hurt, rejected, unloved, abandoned, can you make room for that feeling, welcome it in the body, bow to its intensity, its fire, its presence, and not attack, or act out? Can you commit to not abandoning yourself now that you need your own love the most? Have we lost eachother? #benddontbreak#yoga#asana @loopworkout marcus worgull ~ love song
