My very perfect Christmas gift for my best friend: TALES OF THE ALHAMBRA by Washington Irving. She studied abroad in Granada last summer and read (but didn’t buy) this book about the city. The fact that she immediately opened it and started reading it to us was so satisfying! Swipe to look at the wonderful illustrations.
(Noviembre)“Populismo” J.L. #Bookreview #reseñas#bookworms#bookworm#gusanodebiblioteca#ifireadican#sileoyopuedo#populism#populismo
Where the Crawdad Sings. Delia Owens. “Face change with life’s toll, but eyes remain a window to what was, and she could see him there.” ———————————————————————— I loved this book and I almost instantly understood what all the fuss was about it. The book reminded me a lot of my time in college in Charleston for several reasons: the accent, the food and the marshes. I loved the depth of the characters, particularly Kya. It’s a definitely a book to read if you like strong female lead, also the author is a woman. The books is full of mystery and southern charm and makes in my favorites list of this year.

“Ash twisted toward Daemon, her cheeks flushed. “I can’t believe you’re allowing him to do this. Next thing we know, you’ll be dating a human.” Daemon busted out laughing. “Yeah, not going to happen.” ~Shadows, Jennifer. L. Armentrout : : QOTD: do you like when series have a novella? AOTD: I really like it when an author writes a book about a secondary character. I love a novella especially because it gives a look at how things were before the series started even thought you already know what’s going to happen. (Did that make any sense🤨) Like the quote above, we read Daemon & Katy’s story first and then to see that quote in Dawson’s story made it 10x funnier. 😉 : : #booknerdsdec18 day eleven - christmas magic, books with magic. I actually don’t own any books with magic in it! So I think a paranormal romance is close enough & I find the woods to be quite magical, so this kinda works lol ☺️✨🌲 : : : happy tuesday✨ you know those days when you feel like you have been going non-stop. That’s me today🙈 I can’t wait for the weekend I am going to visit my sister and baby nephew! ☺️ : : :
Review Time! Not only was Shadow of the Fox a staff pick at Coles and $20, it is highly recommended by @kculver88! This book is fast paced with engaging characters that takes you through a time and place in Japan where demons, ghosts and spirits inhabit the land. I didn't know really what to expect from this book when I picked it up but I liked the fact that I had a fresh take on it. I was pleasantly surprised when we as the reader are exposed to a realm of magic as well as the Japanese culture. The adventure and developing relationship between the two main characters really keeps you going. I enjoyed it and look forward to the sequal! Thanks for the recommendation @kculver88! #review#shadowofthefox#bookworm
Michael's favourite picks! • It was a hard task to narrow down to a short list! But here's a little something for everyone. • ALL THE WAYS TO BE SMART by DAVINA BELL and ALLISON COLPOYS - Knock the gift shopping out of the way by simplifying your selections! Are you buying for a person? If yes, this book is the right choice. • JULIAN IS A MERMAID by JESSICA LOVE - Gorgeous and life affirming on every level! • TALES FROM THE INNER CITY by SHAUN TAN - Yet another masterpiece from an incredible artist. • THE ORCHARD UNDERGROUND by MAT LARKIN - The mystery adventure the world has been waiting for (and they might not have known it). • MEET ME AT THE INTERSECTION edited by AMBELIN KWAYMULLINA and REBECCA LIM - A brilliant YA (and grown up!) collection of Own Voice memoir, poetry and short fiction that is a wonderful tasting platter of the many identities that surround us. • LOUISANA'S WAY HOME by KATE DICAMILLO - One of the greatest wordsmiths on the planet has done it again. • HILDA AND THE HIDDEN PEOPLE by STEPHEN DAVIES & LUKE PEARSON - Whether you've discovered the delights of the original graphic novels or the Netflix series yet or not, this chapter book is great fantasy fun! • HIS NAME WAS WALTER by EMILY RODDA - A dual narrative, a mystery, a fairytale. Another on point tale from an Australian favourite. • THE ASSASSINATION OF BRANGWAIN SPURGE by M.T. ANDERSON & EUGENE YELCHIN - It's elves vs goblins, subterfuge and a comedy of errors. Wildly entertaining!
#livrarias#livrariasaraiva#livrariacultura#euamoler#livros#bookworm#leitura#bookstagram#amoler#igliterario#bibliophile#instalivros#bookaholic#bookphotograph
I have been on a streak guys! I’m slowly getting caught up on reviews, I’m scheduling my 2019 review calendar and I’m squishing in all my year end reading around the edges. 📖☕️ . Which includes me FLYING through Lying in Wait by @liznugentwriter - holy hell guys. This story is so diabolically, terrifically sinister that I could not help but completely love it. Liz dumps the reader into an immediate state of suspense as Annie Doyle is unceremoniously murdered, and her body hidden by Lydia and Andrew. What follows is a master class in a psychopathic cover up of a crime and the consequences that stretch endlessly. 📖☕️ . I completely love Liz's writing style, as she moves the story perspective from character to character. It so flawlessly let me get into the heads of the characters, and I was totally engrossed in seeing just how far Lydia would go to cover up her crime and keep her son in her clutches. 📖☕️ . I spent half the book not sure if I was rooting for the villains to get caught or get away with it, but I can say with certainty that I did not see the twists coming and I completely love a book that catches me by surprise. I won't say more than that, as the reader deserves to have no idea what to expect with this book. 📖☕️ . If you love a good suspense-mystery this is one for your winter TBR friends. So good. 📖☕️ . QOTD: What books are on your Christmas lists this year my friends? 📖🎄 . Happy Tuesday! 💚 . #bookstagram#bookstagramer#currentlyreading#mustread#indigofaves#bookreview#magnoliareads#bookblogger#booksandcoffee#bookworm#booklover#bookish#bookishfeatures#bookishcanadians#festive#reader#igreads#ilovebooks#readersofinstagram#tistheseason#catchup
That girl on the left.....I don't recognize her. What that girl never realized is that hiding herself behind makeup and new hair colors, being so sad and lost about where she was, would actually lead her to FINDING herself and the amazing LIFE she is now living. * She didn’t understand that she needed to be in that place to get to where she is now. * She didn't know then that one day, her MESS would be turned into her MESSAGE! * And then one day she made a DECISION to CHANGE. THE decision changed the rest of her life. * That ONE choice paved the road for her future. * That girl had no clue that the journey she chose would be the thing that would help her LIVE a HEALTHY life! * That girl one day turned into the ME, the girl on the right, that I am today! 🙌🏼 Confident - makeup up or not, sweats or high heels I'm comfortable in my own skin. Living with a purpose and knowing exactly where I'm going. * For me and my family, my own personal journey to health and wellness helped me find my passion, helped me find my purpose, helped me support my family, and helped me to be the one taking care our family ❤️ * If only the old me knew how important and life changing that ONE decision she made back then would be for her future....all aspects of it! * My ONLY regret is that I didn't find this path & make that decision SOONER! That's why I feel like it's my purpose and DUTY to share this coaching journey with you! * YOU can make that ONE life changing decision right NOW and change YOUR future. YOU just have to DECIDE and COMMIT! For YOUR future self! * If YOU can relate to my story and feel stuck in that place I lived for so long and are ready to change, then send me a message or comment below "ME" and we'll chat ASAP...there is not much time left to 2018! Let's make the END of 2018 shine brighter than the beginning!✨
Hello everyone! I know I’ve been a bit inactive but these past few days have been very busy and he next two weeks will be even more busy but I will try to post when I can! Here’s my review of Her One Mistake by Heidi Perks: 4 stars This book is on sale on January 8, 2019 This was a smartly written thriller about what happens when a child goes missing and how far a mother would go to protect her children. Going into this novel, I thought it would just be about Alice's disappearance and I thought the whole novel would be about the same thing and I thought that it would be boring and I said to myself "Oh please not another story about missing children." This was far from it! It had everything I didn't expect from a novel like this and more! All I can say is wow! Told from Harriet and Charlotte's point of views, switching back to before and after her disappearance, the story never gets boring. I can guarantee that you will devour this book in very little sittings because it's just so captivating. It's hard to figure out what happened to Alice because you won't know the full story unless you keep on reading till the end. I had my doubts about certain people in the novel, and as I read through, I figured out part of the plan, but I did not expect such a level of complexity from Perks! It's clear that Perks' intention in this novel is to scare all the mothers and fathers out there and although I am only 18, I felt as if I was Harriet myself and it was my child who has gone missing. Perks is clearly a talented writer and although this book has many levels to it, I would 100% categorize it as a thriller. Thank you Simon and Schuster Canada for providing me with an advanced copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review. #bookstagram#books#instareads#book#bookish#booksbooksbooks#booklover#booklove#goodreads#reading#bookaholic#bookworm#read#bibliophile#bookstagrammer#bookblog#bookblogger#bookreview #bookphotography#bookstagramfeature
