“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.” - Neil Gaiman ____________________________________________ Photo taken by the talented @shwnadwyr. I love reading outside but these bugs have been making it really hard lately! I’ve always been obsessed with stories... I’m fairly certain it all started with fairytales and Disney movies, but I recently found a love for the Brothers Grimm versions. Have you ever read them? ____________________________________________ QOTD: what’s your favourite fairytale? 👸🏼🧚🏼♀️🧜🏼♂️🧞♂️
📚 Book Review 📚 "Some Choose Darkness" by Charlie Donlea. . This was my first book by Charlie Donlea, and I loved it. This book was very suspenseful! It has dual timelines and multiple POVs. At the beginning I wasn't pulled in 100% but once the story picked up, it was a gripping story. . I really liked the character of Angela, who had autism and I feel the author did a great job showing the characteristics of someone on the spectrum. The other female character Rory, I liked seeing her similarities with Angela! You will learn, as the progresses, about this connection!. . . There is alot going on in this book so it's hard for me to describe what exactly is going on without writing out a whole story lol.. But I CAN guarantee that you will get a twisty, psychological suspense read that will have you on the edge of your seat!! I will leave the SYNOPSIS in the comments below!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5⭐. . . Have you read any books by Charlie Donlea? Which one was your favorite?! I'd love to read more of his books! . . Thank you @kensingtonbooks #partner for this copy in exchange for an honest review!
This month I joined @angelareadsbooks and @christinastephaniereads in their monthly #bigbookbuddyread of Miracle Creek by Angie Kim. These ladies hosted a fantastic buddy read and topped it off by coordinating a Q&A with @angiekimask . to see my youngest cuddling with my book. Apparently I was not supposed to be reading it while he threw rocks in the creek. Gotta love 4 years olds! . I chose Miracle Creek as one of my @bookofthemonth picks because I have my own creek in my backyard. Who knew that the book was going to take #bookstagram by storm!? . Miracle Creek is about an experimental medical treatment device that is called the Miracle Submarine. The treatment center is located in Miracle Creek, VA, hence the name. Devastatingly, the Miracle Submarine explodes with the participants inside. Two of the participants die as a result. Elisabeth, the mother of one of the participants is charged with the murders. But did she do it? Was it another parent, a protester, an owner? Honestly, I figured out who was responsible for the explosion early on. At that point, I was feeling a little discouraged. I didn't want to keep going, but I had read so many rave reviews that I powered through. I am so glad I did. I was constantly rethinking my guess and that kept me going. In the end, I was correct in the "who", but I wasn't completely correct in the "why". . Miracle Creek is a very solid debut! I will be looking forward to Angie Kim's future books. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ . . . #miraclecreek#angiekim#bookofthemonth#bookreview#bookrecommendation#booksoutside#booksharks#bookshivers#readersofinstagram#constantreader#alwaysreading#avidreader#booksarelife#ireadpastmybedtime#bookcommunity#readwhatyouown
📖BOOK REVIEW📖 Red, White & Royal Blue || Casey McQuiston ✨ Genre - Romance _ Wow. Oh wow. Did I love this book. It had me laughing out loud so much that my coworkers gave me funny looks. It also had me close to tears and my heart was squeezed with both sadness and overwhelming happiness. A book about with female president, her biracial family, and bisexual son who falls in love with the Prince of England? Throw in a hate to love romance and I was ALL IN. And I can honestly say that this book blew my expectations out of the water. _ The characters were so sassy and sarcastic and I absolutely loved it. The fact that both Henry and Alex had this amazing attitude and humor, but could also have such amazingly tender moments made them such loveable characters. I love how they used old letters in their emails to each other and this author did an amazing job of making these characters realistic, but also people to look up to. _ The romance was hot and I loved all their romancing scenes, especially when their relationship was secret and new. I cannot imagine having to hide a relationship like this from friends and family, but to be such public figures and worried about what the whole world things - it is unimaginable. I just wanted to be their advocates and give them such big hugs. There were moments of heartbreak that were so visceral and that just shows how amazing the writing and storytelling were. _ I could honestly gush about this book forever, but I just have to say GO READ IT. It will make your heart so very happy. _ 100⭐️/10 _ For the full review and more, check out my Goodreads | the link is in my profile! #reviewsbyrebecca . . . . . . . . . . #bookstagram#booklove#bibliophile#bookgeek#readmore#bookish#booknerd#bookphotography#readersofinstagram#bookworm # #bookblog#themagicofbookstagram#booksaremylife#cozyvibes#booksofig#simplethingsmadebeautiful#bookreviews#alwaysreading#bookster#bookreview#review#redwhiteandroyalblue
"Somewhere in the night they are singing songs of death..." A recent find I haven't had a chance to read yet. But I always look forward to a new Charles L. Grant. I'm really digging the Rowena Morrill cover on this one, too. Pocket Books, 1984.
. Hello Booklovers! . It's a beautiful day here in Auckland! The sun is shining and the air is crisp! I only had to work for half a day because of a work training thingy, AND my @faerietalescandles order arrived! . This is turning out to be a splendid day! Now to top it off, it's time for a snack! *opens fridge to see nothing but milk and a jar of gherkins* Uhhhh.... food shopping it is then! . . QOTD: What's your go to snack? . I will always always always be up for sushi. But sushi does not spontaneously appear in my fridge. Gherkins do apparently... but there's only so many of those you can eat from a jar... . . Happy Reading Everyone! . . #bookstagram#bookpic#evelynskye#circleofshadows#tbr#qotd#kiwisread#nzbookstagram#bookstagrammer#booksoutside#2019reads#fantasy#yafantasy#fiction#books
❓Where’s your favourite place to read? . Guys, I’m so sick; I just want to feel better. I’m that kind of sick where you can still work and can still do everything, but just feel really miserable doing it. Soon I’ll be back at the cottage for a few days where I can rest and read and hopefully not be eaten by bugs. 😅 The cottage has been one of my favourite places to read for a while, because it’s the one place where I ~usually~ don’t feel like I should be doing something else. I read for a good ... 12 hours a day when we go up there. And I’m not sorry! 😜 This is a photo of my favourite series with my favourite book sleeve company in one of my favourite places. ☺️ . #bookstagram#bibliophile#bookish#booklove#booklover#bookworm#booknerd#bookporn#bookaddict#booksoutside#lake#harrypotter#harrypotterandthephilosophersstone#harrypotterandthechamberofsecrets#harrypotterandtheprisonerofazkaban#jkrowling#booksleeve#hogwarts#hogwartshouses#loveyoumorestudio#cottage#qotd#aotd#readandriot#terrireadandriot

Team dog ear? or Team NO dog ear?⠀ ⠀ On my own books hands down I will dog ear the living shit out of them, even if I have access to bookmarks. If its a library book or borrowed from a friend or even if I plan to give it away at some point I try not too. ⠀ ⠀
Thank goodness there's another one, I can't with that cliffhanger. I'm not usually a science fiction type of gal, but I love this series, and this installment was no exception. I need more! ✨✨✨ Also, maybe it's because I was the only one reading on vacation, but I've never had more questions about a book in my life. "What are you reading? What's it about? Can you read it out loud? Pierce Brown, do I know him? Is he an actor? I like the feather!" Y'all, let me live. 😂
"Ishmael, lone survivor of the doomed whaling ship Pequod, falls through a rift in time and space to a future Earth - an Earth of blood-sucking vegetation and a blood-red sun, of barren canyons where once the Pacific Ocean roared. Here too there are whales to hunt - but whales that soar through a dark blue sky." So this book picks up right after the end of Moby Dick. And it's the sort of book that demonstrates, in my mind at least, Farmer's real genius as a writer of fantasy and scifi. He could always find the cracks in other authors stories, the loopholes that let him make outside connections and build something completely new, and completely his own, out of existing material. Read Farmer. Start with Riverworld. See for yourself. Then give his Wold Newton Universe a Google. Really fascinating stuff. Ace, 1971.
💛 I got the most delightful book mail yesterday, thanks to my amazing sister-in-law Elizabeth! She just finished reading Steal Like An Artist, and thought it would be a book that I would appreciate. When she mentioned that she was going to send it to me, I had no idea that she meant to gift me all 3 of Austin Kleon's books. How thoughtful! I'm really looking forward to diving in. 😘💛 . . 🌿 Have you ever read any of these books? . 💜 Steal Like An Artist 💛 Show Your Work 💙 Keep Going . I'd love to hear your thoughts! 🌿 . . 🌱 I'm mixing it up a little and diverging from my usual style of photo here. Hopefully it doesn't look too odd on my feed. 😬 Fun fact: when I started my bookstagram, I originally intended to make most of my pictures look like this. However, I quickly realized that I am not a model and ditched that idea. 😄😅🌱
GIVEAWAY! @doubledaybooks //partner 🍃 If you are looking for a book that will carve out a place in your heart, The Most Fun We Ever Had is out today! Hands down my favorite read of the year, 5 ⭐️ and all those good things. I can’t say enough how @claire_lombardo wrote her way into my heart with this story. Her ability to write so honestly about such strong matters of the heart, the joys and sorrows of a long term marriage and LIFE and encompass so many relatable emotions continued to astonish me as I was reading this. Her writing swept all else aside for me, her ability to bring this family to life with all of their flaws and show that we’re all just really doing the best we can- to love and grow and share with each other. Life is messy! We make mistakes. And it still can be beautiful. The Most Fun We Ever Had portrays this better than any book I’ve read in a long time. 🍃 Do you want to read this too? Thanks to @doubledaybooks all you need to do is- 1. Like this post! 2. Leave a comment tagging a friend 3. Live in the US to enter.
