Quick reading & pool break to celebrate hitting 50,000 words on Violent Ends this week...but then it’s back to it because these characters will NOT let me rest long! PS #amreading Next Level Basic by Stassi Schroeder (hi I’m Vanderpump obsessed) and it literally JUST became a New York Times bestseller!
Skyy's new idyllic life is interrupted when a startling vision rocks her world, forcing her to confront a brutal truth. Check out book two of The Gibborim Series, Feel the Flames. http://bjsheldon.com/books/
I saw this book on another book account and had to give it a go. Romance is one of the most popular genres in literature, and it has the worst reputation because it’s always referred to as porn, or abusive, cheesy, or just plain bad. It’s also normally viewed this way by others who either 1) don’t read or 2) have an insane, skewed perception of what “romance” actually is. My argument simply is, if you watch (and enjoy) chick flicks, you don’t get to judge a romance novel because they have all the same components. I’m really excited to read this! . . . Long before clinch covers and bodice rippers, romance novels had a bad reputation as the lowbrow lit of desperate housewives and hopeless spinsters. But why were these books—the escape and entertainment of choice for millions of women—singled out for scorn and shame? Dangerous Books for Girls examines the secret history of the genre’s bad reputation—from the “damned mob of scribbling women” in the nineteenth century to the sexy mass-market paperbacks of the twentieth century—and shows how romance novels have inspired and empowered generations of women to dream big, refuse to settle, and believe they’re worth it. For every woman who has ever hidden the cover of a romance—and every woman who has been curious about those “Fabio books”—Dangerous Books For Girls shows why there’s no room for guilt when reading for pleasure. . . . #books#booksofinstagram#bookstagram#bookblogger#instabook#instareads#igreads#epicreads#booklife#bibliophile#read#reading#reader#readers#booklove#booklover#booklovers#bookish#ilovebooks#bookaholic#bookaddict#bookgeek#booknerd#booknerdigans#bookworm#booknerd#bookphotography#bookporn#bookgasm#booksbooksbooks

QOTD: Describe your pet or favourite animal friend in one word!⠀ 🐩 ⠀ For my Teddy Bear, the word would be cuddly! Closely followed by treats and perpetually hungry, but even more than food, he loved people! He followed the lady who came to clean my mom’s house today around, whining whenever she stopped petting him. 🙈🙈 I was so embarrassed - I told her my dog is “well behaved”! But she thought he was the cutest...he gets away with so much. 🤦🏽♀️⠀ 🐩 ⠀ The book Crown of Feathers is about a girl who has an amazing connection with animals, in particular with a Phoenix! If you’re an animal lover, you might want to check this one out. 🦅 ⠀ 🐩 ⠀
👆🏻currently reading, and tbh I’m not a fan. I’m a little more than halfway through and almost quit a few chapters ago. I’m trying to tough it out for the sake of book club! Any recommendations for my next book? I love historic fiction & interesting business books, but I’m open to any book with excellent writing & compelling characters! #eleanoroliphantiscompletelyfine
I’ve been in another reading slump, so I picked up Jasmine Guillorys second book in the hopes it would pull me out of it like The Wedding Date did. I can’t quite put my finger on it but I didn’t enjoy this book as much as The Wedding Date. I loved that it was based on a side character from a story I had already read, and I loved the slow friendship that developed between these characters first. However, and maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I felt like I’d read this book before. It felt TOO similar to the wedding date. The characters were different enough, although a bit flat if I’m honest. But the progression of the story was too similar. All that being said, I’ll still pick up her third novel when it comes out to see which character from this world she’s going to explore next (would love to see more of the leading lady’s best friends from this book, who somehow became my favourite parts to read). . . . #readingslump#theproposal#nikandcarlos#jasmineguillory#bookstagram#bookstagrammer#booksofinsta#booklove#readmore#igbooks#instaread#bibliophile#bookworm#booknerd#booklover#lovereading#bookgram#bookish#booknerdigans
a few favourite adult Greek mythology books 🔥 I have always been hugely into mythology, particularly Greek. Percy Jackson was such an important part of my reading as a child and teen, and Riordan still is with his Trials of Apollo series, and I am so grateful to it for providing me, and so many others, an avenue and proper introduction to pursue this interest. Now, ten years on I am still so fascinated 🍎 So if anyone is looking for an accurate and beautifully written mythological narration I have to recommend Stephen Fry and Madeline Miller - the Song of Achilles still breaks my heart, almost a year after I read it. #book#books#reading#booknerdigans#bookquotes#bookreview#bibliophile#bookstagram#fantasy#yabooks#bookshelves#greece#greekmyths#mythology#greekmythology#percyjackson#rickriordan#trialsofapollo#madelinemiller#circe#thesongofachilles#prometheus#stephenfry#mythos#heroes
I think my long absence deserves an explanation. Maybe you didn’t notice how I vanished from bookstagram for over a month, but maybe you did and you deserved an explanation . April kicked me in the guts. Everything was happening at the same time. I ended a long term relationship for good, my mum was hospitalized –she’s fine btw-, I had so much work and also finals. Sometimes, reading is my way to deal with stress but this was too much to handle so I gave up on reading for the month and tried to focus on the other –and most important aspects of my life. . Now, I think I have gained enough peace of mind to come back with a new theme and a burning desire to read all those books I neglected these past few weeks. . Reading is such a huge part of my life, of who I am that I felt completely lost without it but truth be told it was a much needed brake. . A couple of days ago, I started my first book of the month and finished an audiobook. I’m currently reading #wizardandglass , the 4th book in #thedarktower series by #stephenking and of gosh reading feels so good now. I will be spamming you with likes and comments in the next few days, and thank you so much for all your love and support! . . . .

What's a genre you wish you read more of? . We had lunch at my Mama's house for Easter last Sunday, and she gave me my birthday present early. We love getting each other books we think the other will love! . True Story: I already have Where the Crawdads Sing by @authordeliaowens on audio because I think it looks AMAZING. But I've not listened yet, so now I'm excited to read it instead. . QOTD: what's a genre you wish you read more of? . AOTD: I used to read a lot of true crime, and I miss that! I have been trying to read it more often recently, though I tend to listen to it on audio instead now.
I love being in London! Travelling in from my little country town, it feels so busy and freeing. Like you can discover anything, like the reading room that @prettybooks took me to recently. How pretty is this place?! // Do you ever read when out and about? The stairs I’m stood on to get this shot were covered in bean bags with people melting into them with their books. It looked idillic 💛
#repost @skyewarrenbooks with @get_repost ・・・ Gorgeous new cover alert ♥️ ✔ Professor and his student ✔ Scarred ex-military hero ✔ Maid who works in his house Blake and Erin's story is an absolute fan favorite. It started with a single short story, and by overwhelming request I wrote novella after novella. 📚 And then...I pulled them down from sale 🤷♀️ They weren't in a format that made sense for the current market. They weren't even part of my initial writing plan. They were 100% driven by my readers. ♥️ Which is why I'm so excited to have revised, re-edited, and release the books as a duet TOMORROW. I'm thrilled this couple will be back in the world... AND they'll be releasing in audiobook with narrators Lia Langola and Stephen Dexter 🎧🎶 #beautyandthebeast#lialangola#stephendexter#audiobook#booksnews#newrelease#readersofinstagram#booknerdigans
Absolutely love the beach vibes this cover is giving me! 😍 • • Thank you to @harlequinpublicityteam for sending me a copy of THE SUMMER COTTAGE. This is definitely going to be perfect reading this summer and I’m so excited 😬 • • Synopsis: Adie Lou Kruger’s ex never understood her affection for what her parents called their Creaky Cottage, the charming, ramshackle summer home - complete with its own set of rules for relaxing - that she’s inherited on Lake Michigan. But despite the fact that she’s facing a broken marriage and empty nest, and middle age is looming in the distance, memories of happy childhoods on the beach give her reason for hope. She’s determined not to let her husband’s affair with a grad student reduce her to a cliche, or to waste one more minute in a career she doesn’t love, so it becomes clear what Adie Lou must do: rebuild her life and restore her cottage shingle by shingle, on her terms. But converting the beloved, weather-beaten structure into a bed-and-breakfast isn’t quite the efficient home-reno experience she’s seen on TV. Pushback from Saugatuck’s contentious preservation society, costly surprises and demanding guests were not part of the plan. But as the cottage comes back to life, Adie Lou does, too, funding support in expected places and a new love story on the horizon. One cottage rule at a time, Adie Lou reclaims her own strength, history and joy by rediscovering the magic in every sunset and sandcastle. • • THE SUMMER COTTAGE is on sale now wherever books are sold! Wow look at that— another book that I still need to read. I think I have an addiction to buying books, because my TBR pile is massive! I may do a video going through my TBR pile here at school. (Taking it back home is going to be a mess...) ✨ I’m posting this sitting outside today! I KNOW! The weather is super nice and I could not be happier. I have finals coming up and so much stress, but in this very moment, I don’t care. I want to sit outside and read 😍 ✨ QOTD: Do you have a buying obsession for books, too? Or do you pace yourself. I spend gift card money and go to thrift stores way too much. ✨ If you enter the Jord giveaway, make sure to let me know on that post so I can give you a shout out when it’s over!
