I loved reading Forest World. It’s a beautiful story told in prose from two different perspectives: Edver, and the sister he didn’t know he had in Cuba. As the two siblings try to figure out a complicated relationship they accidentally find themselves facing off against a notorious poacher and they must work together to save the forest they both love. 🌱 . . . . . . . . #middlegradebooks#forestworld#books📚 #bookstagram#booklove#diversebooks#diversecharacters
Capote wrecked me BIG time with this “non-fiction novel”. . “‘I don’t know why,’ he said, as if holding it to the light, and angling it now here, now there. ‘I was sore at Dick. The tough brass boy. But it wasn’t Dick. Or the fear of being identified. I was willing to take that gamble. And it wasn’t because of anything the Clutters did. They never hurt me. Like other people. Like people have all my life. Maybe it’s just that the Clutters were the ones who had to pay for it.’” . In Cold Blood trails the true events surrounding the heartless murder of the Clutter family in the serene small town of Holcomb, Kansas. Capote never attempts to accuse nor empathize with any of the parties involved. Rather, using a detached narrative in the form of factual journalism and fictional dialogue, he brilliantly manages to jumble the readers’ emotions from anger to remorse to sympathy and compassion. His phenomenal character development plays a significant role in inviting the reader into the psyches of everyone connected to the event, allowing the reader to be unsettled and disturbed. With genius intentions, the culprits are introduced from the get-go via an alternating narrative from the events leading up to the murders through their aftermath. Even without a mystery element, Capote manages to craft a continual sense of breathtaking suspense throughout the entire read. Capote will provoke you to be upset, angry, depressed as well as sympathize and question the complexities of the human psyche and emotions. You will fall for his knack for beautiful prose and language— A MUST READ classic. . . .
I’m looking forward to giving my niece this lovely, graphic novel adaptation of one of my favorite books from childhood. Mariah Marsden distilled the original story beautifully, and Brenna Thummler’s art captures the tone of the story perfectly.
⏳ Do you have any collectible movie, or just coffee table” books? ⌛️ . . When this book showed up, I must’ve sat for a least an hour straight, scanning the pages, reading the neat little extra inserts and letters that were included... I felt like a kid on Christmas! . . I love that there are books out there for any and everything. I remember for my Grandma, it was nature. She had coffee table books on all kinds of flora and fauna, and even though they were HUGE, I’d carry them around with me and just stare at the pictures in awe! She also had a great love of Wolves and Herbs, (I learned a surprising amount about herbology from those books!) . . For my Grandpa, it was Ansel Adams. Beautiful books! 😍 . . Also, side note... I could’ve posted a regular picture today at a decent time, but my brain was thinking nope... let’s go totally overboard, make a mess, do a really late post, waste an entire day on ONE picture... so... yeah. 🤷🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ . . But, at least I finally got the nerve up to light my labyrinth candle from @onceuponawickcandles That was a big step for me!! 😂 . . #bookcommunity#bookstagrammer#booknerdigans#bookphotography#booklove#book#bookish#bookworm#booknerd#bookaholic#bookbloggerlife#bookblogger#reading#readersofinstagram#amreading#bookishgirl#bookpics#bibliophile#blogging#labryinth#ilovebooks#ireadya#igreads#readingtime📖
