Your face when you realized there were no hippos in that last post. Sorry yall, I couldn't resist! Hopefully these awesome shots of the hippos we did see make up for my deceit 😁 Shout out to @kattydillon94 & @jen.galvin--the ladies with the talent and the cameras to capture these #natgeo moments. #neature is the neatest with #bmtmadventures πŸ’•

So far my trips have taken us to Peru, Alaska, and now Namibia, and although each place is different there’s a running theme: The women who come on these trips are smart, laid back, adventurous, and so easy to get along with. I hear more laughter than anything else! I couldn’t have anticipated just how rewarding these trips with blog readers and this Instagram community would be but I’m so blown away and honored. Credit: @bemytravelmuse Standing at Victoria Falls, One of the seven natural wonders of the world, all smiles on the last day of this #bmtmadventures tour! About a year ago I started putting these group excursions together and so far they’ve taken us to three different continents including hiking in Peru, backpacking in the Alaskan wilderness, and traveling overland through Namibia, Botswana, and ending here in Zambia. Though they’ve all been such different adventures, one common thread has been how blown away I am by the women who show up to take part. You’re all so smart, dynamic, friendly, non-cliquey, and such a joy to be around, I often pinch myself because I just can’t believe that part of my job gets to be hanging out with such cool people, laughing till my cheeks hurt. I can’t wait until our next adventure in Patagonia this March! The spots for that trip have all sold out but as soon as it turns 2019 three new amazing tours will be available: Hiking and chasing waterfalls in Iceland, island hopping in the Galapagos, and swimming with humpback whales in Tonga. Sound exciting? Sign up for the newsletter to be the first to know as spots become available! Link in bio. November 3rd, 2018 Victoria Falls, Livingstone, Zambia • After exhausting 4 hours at the Botswana-Zambia border we finally reached Livingstone and had 1 hour left to visit the zambian side of Victoria Falls. The falls on the Zambezi river have a width of 1708m and a height of 108m. November is dry season, so a lot of the falls have dried up and you can see the bare rocks underneath. • • • #zambia #livingstone #victoriafalls #bmtmadventures
November 3rd, 2018 Chobe Nationalpark, Botswana • Another day, another early wake up call, another safari! Today we spotted impalas, hippos (on land and in water), wildebeests, warthogs, kudus, a leopard tortoise and lions. Also I‘m pretty sure that I forgot to list some of the amazing wildlife we have seen. • • • #botswana #chobe #safari #bmtmadventures
November 2nd, 2018 Chobe River Safari, Botswana • Today we drove from Elephant Sands to Kasane, the last long stretch of our amazing trip. After checking in to the amazing Chobe Bush Lodge (with the best WiFi we had in a long time πŸ™ˆ) we entered the boat for our river safari. We spotted crocodiles, hippos, wildebeests, a dead elephant and plenty of birds. Also we drank all the beer on board 🀷🏼‍♀️ • • • #botswana #chobe #safari #bmtmadventures

Sunrise & wild elephants!! #bmtmadventures #botswana #elephantsands #sunrise #elephants
November 1st, 2018 Elephant Sands, Botswana • Although it was an amazing experience I‘m not sure if humans should be so close to wild elephants. You could clearly see their change in behavior whenever we came to close. You could also see their lightly aggressive behavior among themselves because of the lack of water. This all ended with the elephants being very close to our tents drinking from the water pipes and blowing bubbles in our toilets. • • • #botswana #elephantsands #elephant #bmtmadventures
November 1st, 2018 Elephant Sands, Botswana • Where elephants rule! Elephant Sands is a remote lodge (glamping!) build around a waterhole. We watched these impressive creatures drinking only a couple meters away from us. The elephants roam freely and only spikes at the edges of the lodge keep them from coming in. But this doesn’t always work because we found some elephant poop at the pool the next morning. Due to the drought there is not enough water for all of them so they search for alternatives like the pool or the drains at the tents. • • • #botswana #elephantsands #elephant #bmtmadventures
November 1st, 2018 Scenic Flight Okavango Delta, Botswana • Animal spotting from a plane is pretty difficult. Even more difficult is it to take photos of these animals without hitting the plane window with your zoom lens 🀨 • • • #botswana #okavangodelta #elephant #zebra #giraffe #bmtmadventures

October 31st, 2018 Okavango Delta, Botswana • Another great safari experience! The mokoro polers brought us to an island within the Okavango Delta where we went on a walking safari. More elephant and giraffe sightings and finally some hippos 😊 • • • #botswana #okavangodelta #mokoro #bmtmadventures
October 31st, 2018 Okavango Delta, Botswana • Finally made it to Botswana! Today we went on a mokoro boat ride as well as a walking safari in the Okavango delta, a very large, swampy inland delta formed where the Okavango river reaches a trough. The delta has less than 2m variation in height across its 15.000sq km. • • • #botswana #okavangodelta #mokoro #bmtmadventures
October 29th, 2018 Kalahari Bush Breaks, Namibia • After saying goodbye to part of the week 1 group in Windhoek we continued our journey to Botswana. To split up the long distance we stopped at Kalahari Bush Breaks, a beautiful lodge near the Namibia-Botswana border. In the evening I gave star photography another try. As I stood in the dark I noticed several waterbucks watching me, which was slightly terrifying πŸ˜„ • • • #namibia #kalahari #nightphotography #bmtmadventures
The perfect Halloween spot. Standing next to skeletons of trees in a rare moment when instead of blazing sun and crystal clear skies, we had a sandstorm which whipped up the dust. It was so cool to see it in this state! I kept going ‘nobody has photos like this of Deadvlei!’ I think my enthusiasm caught on with my #bmtmadventures group. Yeah, naw? πŸ˜‚ (πŸ“·: @alex_elise29)

Early AM Oryx. The ominous sky behind them tells a story of what’s to come. That night the desert received more rain in one night than it did the entire previous year. Roads flooded and the sound of the rain on the roof sounded like a herd of elephants. It was the most spectacular lightning storm I’ve ever seen, though. At times it was blinding. Swipe right to see a time lapse of it!

October 27th, 2018 AfriCat Foundation, Namibia • Conservation through education. The AfriCat Foundation was founded in 1991 for conservation and survival of Namibia’s large carnivores in their natural habitat. October 26th, 2018 Etosha Nationalpark, Namibia • A Lion’s Love Story πŸ˜ŽπŸ™ˆ We witnessed this mating ritual several times today. When in heat lions mate 4 times an hour for 4 days 😳. For the lioness it’s a painful procedure because the penis is barbed. But the pain is necessary and induces ovulation and permits fertilization. Although we felt like perverts we had a lot of fun watching the lions. Just imagine a car full of women trying not to laugh out loud and after our engine breakdown shortly before lunchtime, a few beers might have been involved on our afternoon party safari 😎 • • • #namibia #etosha #lion #bmtmadventures

October 25th, 2018 Spitzkoppe, Namibia • Today we visited Spitzkoppe, impressive granite peaks in the Namib desert. The granite is more than 120 Million years old and the highest peak is about 700m high. We climbed to the rock pool as well as the rock arch. Unfortunately I slipped on the way up and fell. I now have some minor bloody souvenirs from Namibia. Luckily my group was very caring and helped me out with sanitizer, band aid and lent me a hand on the way down. • • • #namibia #spitzkoppe #bmtmadventures
Completely fell in love with Swakopmund. This little city founded by the Germans when they colonised Namibia is a real gem in the desert. October 24th, 2018 Sandwich Harbour, Namibia • Springboks are basically everywhere in Namibia. This antelope species is characterized by a white face with a dark stripe and a light brown coat with a reddish stripe on the side. Both sexes have a pair of black, backward curved horns. • • • #namibia #walvisbay #sandwichharbour #springbok #bmtmadventures

October 24th, 2018 Sandwich Harbour, Namibia • Sandwich Harbour is an area South of Walvis Bay where sand dunes meet the ocean. Formerly the bay was a port for whaling and fishing, but is now known for its birdlife. We had a lot of fun dune bashing with the 4x4 vehicle and climbing on top of the dunes for spectacular views. • • • #namibia #walvisbay #sandwichharbour #bmtmadventures
October 24th, 2018 Sandwich Harbour, Namibia • On the way to Sandwich Harbour we also saw thousands of cormorants. • • • #namibia #walvisbay #sandwichharbour #cormorants #bmtmadventures
October 24th, 2018 Walvis Bay, Namibia • Around the salt works of Walvis Bay you can find several manmade salt evaporation ponds that are pumped with sea water. This complex currently supplies over 90% of Southern Africa’s salt. It is also a rich feeding ground for shrimp like the Artemia Salina that also causes the pink water color as well as the pink color of the flamingos. • • • #namibia #walvisbay #pinklakes #bmtmadventures
October 24th, 2018 Pelican Point, Walvis Bay, Namibia • Pelican Point is home to about 50.000 cape fur seals. It was amazing watching them playing in the water and interacting with our kayaks. We also were very lucky and saw a sunfish (Mola-Mola), the heaviest known bony fish in the world. They swim near the surface and you can see their fin over water. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to take a photo. • • • #namibia #walvisbay #seals #kayaking #bmtmadventures

October 24th, 2018 Walvis Bay, Namibia • Thousands of Flamingos can be found at the Walvis Bay lagoon. The greater flamingo is the most common one, larger in size, white to light pink with a whitish beak. The lesser flamingo is smaller in size but more colorful, deeper pink to reddish with a dark red beak. • • • #namibia #walvisbay #flamingos #bmtmadventures
October 23rd, 2018 Sossusvlei, Namibia • Just casually waiting for 5 1/2h in front of a flooded street after the serious rainfalls from last night 🀷🏼‍♀️ We all cheered when the van was finally able to cross the river and we followed by foot. • • • #namibia #sossusvlei #bmtmadventures
October 22nd, 2018 Little Sossus Lodge, Sossusvlei, Namibia • Another very rare experience in Africa: After the sandstorm in Deadvlei it started raining and hailing in the afternoon and then we had a major thunderstorm that lasted until 7am the next morning. They told us they only had a total of 3mm of rain in the last 3 years and then we got 22mm in one night. This was the most fascinating lightning I ever experienced and I tried to get some good pictures. • • • #namibia #sossusvlei #lightning #nightphotography #bmtmadventures
October 22nd, 2018 Deadvlei, Namibia • Today we experienced something rare: a sandstorm in Deadvlei, a white clay pan in the Namib-Naukluft National Park. The trees there died around 650 years ago and their wood does not decompose because it is so dry. The weather and upcoming sandstorm created an surreal impression and it somehow felt like a different planet. • • • #namibia #sossusvlei #deadvlei #bmtmadventures
October 22nd, 2018 Dune 45 Sossusvlei, Namibia • We hiked dune 45, a star dune in Sossusvlei area of the Namib desert. It is located at kilometer 45 of the road from Sesriem gate to Sossusvlei and 170m at the highest point. Kalahari Sands was flowed to the Atlantic Ocean by the Orange River and then moved northwards by the Benguela current. The sand was brought back to land by the surf and then shifted further inland by the wind. Changing wind directions permanently reshape the pattern of the dunes. • • • #namibia #sossusvlei #dune45 #bmtmadventures
October 22nd, 2018 Sossusvlei, Namibia • We entered the Namib-Naukluft National Park right at sunrise (6:30AM) to visit the dunes, Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. We had pleasant temperature and beautiful light. Also saw some oryxes again, a beautiful antelope species. • • • #namibia #sossusvlei #oryx #bmtmadventures
October 22nd, 2018 Sossusvlei Desert Camp, Namibia • This morning I experimented with star photography for the first time. October 21st, 2018 Sossusvlei Desert Camp, Namibia • A lot has happened today. We spent several hours on gravel roads, our van got stuck in sand and we blew a tire in the middle of nowhere. Peru Trip April 2018. - Even though this single day was super super Long with an extremely early wake up call & super super Challenging it was still by far one of my TOP favourite days for sure back in my 2 week Peru Adventure!! And believe it or not Rainbow Mountain 🌈 is actually higher than Machu Picchu in feet.. Rainbow Mountain stands at: 17,060 feet! Where as the Central point of Machu Picchu sits at about: 2,430 meters ( 7,970 feet ) above sea level. If you ever plan to go to the popular & astonishing & stunningly gorgeous Rainbow Mountain some tips are to: - Due to the high Altitude stay hydrated! ( drink lots of water πŸ’¦ ) - take and to save some Altitude Pills ( for especially this day!! ) - if you'd likely have to wake up super early to go there too, is advise to get an early night shut eye time! 😴 - it's a very challenging hike! ( especially if you were like me and taking on a 4 day hike along the Inca Trail before conquering the very stunning Machu Picchu!! ) and roughly about 2-3 hours to hike it so a good stretch before and even after isn't ever a bad idea at all !! - And you CAN wear really good sneakers / running shoes. Hiking shoes / boots are advised still! But it is really just up to you though! πŸ™‚ #bmtmadventures#neverstopexploring#peru#rainbowmountain#crazyaltitude! #thankgodforaltitudepills&cocoaleaves!! πŸ™‚πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ͺπŸŒˆπŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ˜
