How well do you listen to your body?  I strive to follow the 80/20 rule (80% clean, 20% fun) when it comes to nutrition and maintaining an active lifestyle but every few months I find myself in what seems to be a black hole of self-sabotage. One cookie becomes a dozen, a night of take out turns into a week of Postmates deliveries and if I’m eating this poorly then what is the point of exercising? 🙃 My ability to self rationalize is astounding.  Bloating, nausea, a lack of luster in both my skin and of life are just a few of the signs I’ve learned to recognize when drowning in these behaviors. And even though I have not yet figured out what triggers them, I’m grateful when my body tells me I need to get my shit together. Literally. 🤷🏼‍♀️ ⠀ #tbt
💫I was taught as a young man to both revere, respect and fear my male peers. When I started High School, my self-esteem was so low that I deeply envied the other popular boys in my class. I put myself at a lower level than all the rest. . Then, one Friday early evening, as I was headed to the video store to spend another weekend alone, I stopped to play basketball with a boy named Ronen. He would eventually become my closest friend and taught me the truth: Me kow-towing to anyone else, putting anyone "ABOVE" me wasn't true friendship. I learned from him how to be a good friend. . 🚀During my book launch with these three powerful men, the @alpha.tribe, I felt how distant I was from the young boy I was. I had grown to put myself at the same level. Grateful for these life lessons.

After a long day at work, I came home excited to see my two dogs (Ellie & our neighbors dog we are sitting.) To my not so lovely surprise.. I come home to my apartment covered in dog poop and smelling like... 💩😭 After cleaning the floors for an hour, my apartment still smelled. Luckily for me, I have purification on hand!! I diffused it right away and it INSTANTLY removed the horrible smell. 10/10 would recommend anyone to buy purification for this reason alone (it has tons of uses too!) 😂💩😅

Hello Beautiful Souls!! Michelle here, sporting an early 50th birthday gift of honeycomb necklace and earrings. These jewels were made by my dear friend, Mark Shieferstein @scrapmonkey Mark is an Asheville, NC based Metal Artist and Figurative Painter.  He uses salvaged metal to make functional and wearable art.  This particular set of jewelry is made from salvaged steel. Originally these were perforated hexagon, often used for ventilation purposes. Mark welds his jewelry and finishes it out with stainless steel ear wires or chain. I am in LOVE with this pattern...considering we are now Bee Keepers! Thursdays are for game dates! 🎲 Not only do they make for healthy competition on date night, but games also allow for a great intermission from serious life talks! Sam & I are working on figuring out what comes next for us & sometimes talks get deep! Playing a round of a game lets us both process & reflect on the conversations we’re having. 🎲 Also.. not only is it okay to take pauses from conversations to gather thoughts & reflect, but I think it is a must in some situations! Never be afraid to call a “time-out” on a conversation in order to collect your thoughts!
The hard part about living with cancer, finding out you have a serious illness or you just feel unwell and don’t know why - is that you need to give yourself permission to heal - as Oprah would say at the beginning of her @supersoul Podcasts - “Giving yourself time” is so important - as a diagnosis comes to you, the fear instantly steels your time, your breath, your life. In just over two months time I will have spent not only one year desperately seeking every medical and natural health answer to my cancer questions - I will have spent 1 1/2 years working on my health. By the time the end of May comes, I will have exhausted my finances and gained more insight and knowledge than I could ever have imagined- most importantly I will have to be kind to myself and relax into the outcome of my dedication- like this butterfly I hope to be soaring away from cancer and towards the best health of my life. I hope that my journey has opened your eyes, made you change a little of your diet, exercise or stress in your life to realise if you are waiting for a moment, illness or something to JOLT you into acting on self love for yourself then I have helped one of you. Get out the good candles, drink that expensive bottle of wine you’ve been saving for a perfect moment, use all those fancy items in your cupboard and wear that one day cute dress waiting for action.
