I unabashedly love Benedictine, a sharp and sweet French herbal liqueur. But it can easily overpower or oversweeten a drink. So I'm quite pleased to have stumbled across this handy trick to balance it out with dry vermouth, which I normally wouldn't pair with a whiskey. 🥃 2 oz blended Scotch (@monkeyshoulder) 1/2 oz Benedictine (@benedictineliqueur) 1/2 oz dry vermouth (@vermouthdolin) 🥃 Smooth and sweet, with a bit of botanical sharpness on the finish. The benedictine really helps bring out the warm barley notes from the Scotch.

This altarpiece from the Monastery Church at Rohr represents the baroque legacy left by 17th century sculptors such as Bernini. Although the baroque style was replaced by neoclassicism as the new avant_garde art in the 18th century, the Catholic Church continued to make use of its emotional impact to inspire piety in breath_taking commissions such as this. Braunau in Rohr Abbey is a Benedictine Monastery. It was founded in 1133 by Adalbert of Rohr.
Winter in Seattle is typically characterized by early sunsets and surly moods, but I think a bit of nostalgia for Seattle’s breathtaking autumn and some eager enthusiasm for our splendid spring helps make this relatively long and dark season much more tolerable.
