"Can I have one of your beers?" - hands down the worst question you can hear from a non-beer drinking spouse. "Um...yes?" - you mentally scroll through what you have in your fridge available for sacrifice. The Karmeliet maybe? Just please not the Nostradamus, not the Nostradamus..."What about the Nostrdamus?" is the call from the kitchen. "NO! but you can have the Karmeliet.". And so I crack the Nostradamus I have been hoarding so that I don't have to share it and I give up a perfectly delicious Karmeliet for the privilege. "What do you think of that one? Karmeliet is..." - "Yeah it's fine." is the response. . . . Brasserie Caracole Nostradamus - thank you for being worth the sacrifice. And thank you @spinnakerswestside for having this gem available. Nutty, toasted flavours - earthy, herbal hops with a hint of heat. . . #fucksharing#belgianbeer#beersnob#greedygirl#yumyum#beernerd#beergeek#beerforme#craftbeerlover#craftnotcrap#craftnotcrapbeer#craftbrew#belgiancraftbeer#bcbeergirl#girlswhodrinkbeer#pnwbeer#beerdidlady
Apparently it’s #drinkitnow Day or something. So I searched the depths of the beer fridge and came up with the first Westvleteren 12 I ever added to my collection, courtesy of @one_true_rone — who awesomely imported this nectar years before we would go to Belgium. I couldn’t even remember when I got the bottle, nor what the date on the cap indicates. (Had to do some Google work to learn the date is three years ahead of its bottling date.) *Carry the 2, drop the 5 * Ahem, it’s a 2015. Great beer but now I’m sad it’s gone and want to go back to Belgium, where these bottles line the shelves of every bottle shop. Brouwerij Westvleteren: Westvleteren 12 (2015), Belgian Quad, 10.2% abv.
