I know for me, I finally embodied my aries qualities, I used to deny them like "im way too airy to have fire, to gentle and passive" but I think I wasn't being true to myself. I now feel stronger than ever emotionally and I have embodied my fiery spirit, and you know what? I love her. I love myself. Ahhhh who is addicted to sugar like I am? Anyone else need a sugar intervention? . I try to eat healthy, and follow the 80/20 rule. Balance. Perspective. Strength. So many of these poses are about where my gaze is. The intensity changes depending on where I’m supposed to look. How true of life. When I’m too preoccupied by who is on my left and who is on my right that I’m not looked at the One who called me to all this, I start to wobble. “But what about her Lord? What about them?” What about them? You. You stay the course. You press in. You do your calling. You keep looking up. It’s holding the pose that my strength grows. I can’t grow stronger if I can’t stay. I can’t stay when I loose sight of where to look.

I am approaching each day and everything I do in it with a purpose. Why you may ask? . —Because I DESERVE IT!!! I DESERVE to not only look like a strong woman, but feel like one inside too. I DESERVE to feel like a confident woman who is proud of her body and all the amazing things it can do. —Because my husband deserves a wife who shows up for her life and gives him the best side of herself. —Because my son deserves a mom who has the energy not just physically, but mentally to be there for him. —Because my patients deserve a kind, compassionate, and caring nurse to take care of them. —Because my family and friends deserve a loving and supportive woman showing up for them. . Today has just honestly been one hell of a day. I have just felt run down, overloaded, rushed and frazzled. I left home early for work and I arrived home late from work. I took no breaks today and I left SO MUCH unfinished on my desk at the office. AND there were things at home I had hoped to work on, things for my business I wanted to cross off my list, and still have date night tonight. I typically get some of these things accomplished in the cracks of my day, but today HAD NO CRACKS 😰. I was telling all this to my husband Tim when I got home and he just simply told me this, "You don't have more than 100% to give and you cannot give everything 100%." Whew. I needed to hear this. Today I did enough. I gave my 100% and now I can be okay with taking our date night and letting it relax and recharge me ❤. What I am NOT going to do is give in to emotional eating 🙅♀️! I am not going to let my stress justify eating my son's leftover slice of pizza, have a cookie, or snack on popcorn because this will NOT make me feel better. Y’all I felt like crap today. I mean for real. No energy to get up and going today, headache at work all day and a full day of non stop busy. I got my littles from daycare, threw some dinner together and finally took a breath (for maybe 2 seconds😉). Then I decided to pop in some good ole Veggie Tales and to work out for 30 for me. It’s so easy to go go GO. When is the last time you took a minute (plus a few more) to INVEST in yourself?? What do you enjoy doing? What feeds your soul? What replenishes your strength and resolve? I binge watch Netflix to zone out. That makes me happy 😆 I’ve started working out again - actually not because I enjoy it but because I know it’s good for me and makes me all around better. I can’t say this enough. My therapist asked me at a December appointment what was one word to sum up what I want right now. And I said, “Peace”. Yes I go to therapy. Yes I believe it helps me to be a better version of myself. And No I am not embarrassed about that what so ever. Therapy allows me a safe environment to work on myself without involving my family and friends in my chaos! Haha Back to peace. Saying the word, “Peace” out loud and identifying that at the end of the day I just want to live in a peaceful environment and have peace in my heart, has reminded me to do just that. I’d have to say the last 6 weeks have been pretty peaceful because I defined my intention to live in peace and have said NO to anything that deviates from that. Find what you want. Do you ever awake at night with your heart racing? Multiple things on the mind: family, relationships, work or finances? Last night I awoke with concerns on the forefront of my mind, feeling stressed….. But I was able to manage it. With all of the personal development books I've been reading lately, I have some affirmations that I have been working with lately. So instead of letting my mind race down the preverbal rabbit hole of negativity, I started to cite the affirmation I have for the concern that woke me and managed to settle back into my slumber. Our tribe has a book club, which is currently reading Un#@%! Yourself written by Gary John Bishop. (I still giggle at the title of this book ;)) It wasn't one I was going to read this month because I was still in another book at the beginning of the month, and received Feel the Fear and do it anyways for Christmas. But when I saw this book at Costco, why not pick it up (as I'm always looking for a deal). This morning when I rose to begin my day, I put away the book I finished the night before and grabbed this book off the shelf…. Thank you Universe, I am listening. I devoured the first chapter and looking forward to delving deeper…. Because someone needs to get out of her head. Have you read this book? Or heard of it? I bought it for my 10 year old for Christmas and she read it cover to cover immediately. She picks it up almost every day and reads a few pages of it. The messages inside are those of strength and courage for young girls and even women! This girl is the definition of unique. She is creative and loves deeply. She has her own struggles but we work through them. Recently, I noticed that she was having episodes of anxiety. I recognize it well because I struggle with it myself at times. Generalized Anxiety Disorder is part of our family, whether we like it or not. Teaching her to work through her anxiety, to talk about the hard things, to breathe, to make lists, and even certain meditation techniques is part of #mamalife for me. When she struggles with emotions, we practice breathing, we talk, and then we list things that can help balance the anxiety. She struggles with math (like her mama) , so I got her a tutor to reduce that stress. When she needs social time (she is very extroverted), we find friends and we plan an outing. She has friends who also struggle with some of the same issues and we encourage those interactions hoping they will eventually discover that they have that in common and can talk together about their fears and struggles. When we make the choice to have children, we don’t think about these kinds of possibilities; that our children may struggle. But it is our job to meet them where they are and help them walk through whatever struggle they encounter! Do you believe in love 🖤 languages? . Over the long weekend, I had this discussion with my girlfriends about Gary Chapman’s theory that we express love for one another in five different ways. They are: . 1. WORDS OF AFFIRMATION🗣: You live for sweet texts and good old fashioned compliments. . 2. QUALITY TIME⏰: Nothing beats a phone call or just being surrounded by those you love. . 3. GIVING GIFTS🎁: You love giving and receiving thoughtful gifts. . 4. PHYSICAL TOUCH✋🏾: This is quality time...AMPLIFIED...with lots of cuddling, hugging, handholding, and care. . 5. ACTS OF SERVICE🧹: This basically translates into favors or tasks that are not necessarily enjoyable done by your loved one so you won’t have to do it. [source: hercampus.com] . This is just a theory, and many people have them. But if you believe it’s validity then you probably have a good idea about your primary love language. . The funny thing is we tend to not only want to be loved according to our primary love language, but we also EXPRESS love the same way. So if your partner’s primary love language is quality time, he/she wouldn’t be thhhhaaaaatttt excited about you (whose love language is acts of service) going out to rake the front yard and clean their car for them. . Less than a year ago I remember making the excuse to a friend that I couldn’t be a healthy or fit person because I simply loved food too much. Like, so much. I thought all these healthy & fit people must just hate good food. 😅 Incase there’s a “me” out there...that’s bogus. It’s exactly what I called it in my first sentence, an EXCUSE. Yes, no doubt it’s hard. Yes, you have to say “no” to things more than you used to. But YOU’RE WORTH IT. 💜 I still eat good food, because I’m still Katelyn. 😅 I’m far from perfect & that’s ok. I’m trying because I’M WORTH IT.

I feel happy. I feel pretty. And I don’t think it’s a bad thing to want those things. One of my dear friends @Wendy_speake once said, we lay down our lives in motherhood, but we aren’t meant to die here. I would look at myself in the mirror and just see that life and children had run me over. There’s some things about that that I can’t change -stretch marks, loose skin, varicose veins, tiny boobs, cellulite -those are here to stay, and I embrace that! Motherhood is beautiful! And there’s things about it that I can change -I can eat better. I can strengthen that mama tummy, I can make time to see people and do hobbies that I love, I can feel better about myself and my life. I want to give that confidence to my girls as they grow. Accept what we can’t change but have the bravery and tenacity to change what we can. It’s not about comparison. It’s not about competition. It’s about loving who God has made us, the life He’s given us THRIVING not just surviving. I love that I can be a friend to support you in this. What do you need to accept that you can’t change and how can you change what you can?
So proud of these two initiating and picking their own hair cuts tonight! Most of my life I struggled with the fear of failure. I saw failure, mistakes and accidents as the enemy and didn’t want to try new things because I was afraid I wouldn’t like it, mess it up or miss out. I would look on from the sidelines at those those who were confident and wanted to be there. Then I took my first few leaps and realized it’s only cold the first time you jump in and you start to get braver and used to how it feels. And it felt good to try! I cut my hair short, I tried coffee and sushi (and love it), I started a recording music and a business endevour, and trying new things and being brave is fun. I’ve learnt way more in the waters than on the sidelines and experiencing what I spent too long watching. So proud to see my kids confident to try something a little different. You were braver than I was at your age tonight! Keep being curious, confident and courageous!

Parenting and family isn’t just about having kids. It’s about empowering, training and loving a soul to succeed in life. As much as I teach and nurture, nothing speaks more than my example and my why behind what I do. It will be their choice to make it their own one day but I’m doing my best to help them value it.
