One of the favs to work into a Pilates class or low impact conditioning work out.  Because of the difficulty of the exercise (intermediate to advanced level), form is quite important:  Do not allow your lower back to collapse at the bottom of the exercise. Keep your abs braced the entire time to prevent injury.  Keep your elbows almost locked out during the entire exercise.  A semi stability ball pike (as demonstrated in the first part of the clip) is a great way to start to build up strength to eventually get to a full pike. The inflammation from the weekend went down and allowed my abs to peak throughπŸ˜€. Beer and pizza do a really good job of covering my progress but as long as I just do it every few weeks its worth itπŸ•πŸ». I tried lots of things to tighten my core, many of them were not as effective as I had hoped. These are called stability ball ab pikes...I never tried these until my coach @nexgenperformancetraining included them and they burnnnnn πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯ The first time I did these I couldn’t believe how sore I was for the rest of the week, I couldn’t even laugh correctly πŸ˜‚ That was how I knew these were good. Shoulder strength and stability is definitely needed for these so I wouldn’t recommend it for everyone! Trying to start posting more!  This is the hardest exercise I can barely sort of do with my shoulder right now. Find the holes in your game and make them your strengths.  Working on strengthening my lats and teres major after a tear almost six months ago and bringing up my core strength. This exercise is a beast for both.  Progressions for this exercise:  Make sure you can execute each exercise properly before trying the next exercise!  1. Hold a straight arm plank for 30" 2. Hold a straight arm plank on Bosu ball for 30" 3. Hold a straight arm plank for 30" with toes on physio ball 4. Work up to 10 controlled pikes on ball 5. Hold a straight arm plank with toes on ball and hands on Bosu ball 6. Work up to 10 controlled pikes on ball with hands on Bosu ball 7. Perform the above with rollout. Here are some of the ways in which I had fun with my body today!  I had an awesome full body workout this morning after teaching a Cycle And Sculpt class! In it I did single leg leg press, single leg calf raises, ball pikes, ball tucks, and a variety of plank variations with feet elevated!  Later in the afternoon I had acupuncture!  I LOVE acupuncture for all parts of my body! I love the way I can go in to see Micah with anything going on within my body and leave my session feeling better in every way!  Then I finished off the afternoon with a lovely walk in the rain with my girl

(Trying to...) Balance out the holiday meals with an #upperbody and #core workout.... I decided to also begin tracking my workout and meals again!!! You engage your whole core and you πŸ‘ˆ make it as easy or challenging as the effort you put into it. This week's #hiitworkouts were awesome... Monday was a #tabata #kettlebell workout ... I used the 44 pound kettle bell 😰 & finished at 128... I have to say I was proud of that one with that weight! Yesterday was 10 sumo deadlifts high pull, 10 ball pikes,10 ball slams & 10 side deadlifts... Don't remember my time & forgot to take the picture but it wasn't to bad πŸ’ͺ😁 In my opinion there should be more workout emojis.
