🌅Bagan, Myanmar🌅 ▫️ ℹ️ The ancient city of Bagan is covered with over 2,200 monasteries, temples and pagodas that were built mostly between the 11th and 13th centuries. Could you imagine that during its heyday there were over 10,000 of them? ▫️ 💬Comment if you’d like to come here! ➡️Follow @the.global.explorer for tips/inspiration ▫️ Tips for visiting: ✅ Start your visit well before sunrise to arrive at a nice spot timely. Our bus from Yangon arrived at 4,45am, which was just ideal to get oriented, hire a rickshaw and get to a nice sunrise spot. ✅ You can rent a bike and get around the temples by bike, but for this place really recommend hiring a guide who can point you to the most interesting places and tell you about the history. The horse rickshaw we had turned out to be a great guide at the same time:) ✅ Wear shoes that are easy to remove - you’ll be taking the off and putting them on a hundred times!:)

Bursting colors are a delightful part of every market. Food stuff, spices, clothes, accessories, and any other kind of more or less useful stuff is piled up in colorful stacks. I walk around, soaking up the buzz, my cellphone ready for some photos in the local market jajjaajaaa... #travelgram#travel#trip#localmarket#market#cellphonephotograpy#xiomiphotograpy#instagood#mandalay#bagan#

Balloons over Bagan. We started early to get here, probably a little too early. Lost in the maze of trails that cut around the plain outside of Old Bagan, a helpful local pointed us in the right direction. We weren’t alone; crammed together with about 20 other foreigners looking for their own glimpse of the first light, we waited. It was quiet - I think we didn’t want to spoil the moment for anyone else; or maybe, we were just pretending no one else was there. I observed the others, wondering what they were making of this. Where they came from, and what brought them there. Some were stoic, eyes trained like a hawk at the horizon. Some were in silent meditation. Some couples nestled, passing love notes in the form of occasional whispers. Above me, camera shutters split the silence. Bagan, Myanmar - December 2018.
