Sometimes I get locked into the idea that social media posts have to be in the immediate. A cut out square of my present tense. But I’m prone to sharing a constant stream of throwback Thursdays. . . . So while my body is swaying with the motion of the metro, lodged between a couple of chatting tourists and a man in a suit, my mind is here. Standing on a thin bridge above the Colorado River. Dirt from the Grand Canyon on my boots. Falling in love with the harsh beauty of the desert and the peculiarities of tumbleweeds. . . . It all feels so immediate. I can almost smell it. A scent particular to the desert, of water and green things persisting among the red clay. Who’s to say past tense can’t become present again?
tulip season is underway. . ... .. . a throwback, not cause it’s Thursday, but because I love this shot and I fear I won’t make it to netherlands carillon before they’re gone with the storm coming tomorrow. you can tell it’s last year’s bloom because of the scaffolding on old lincoln. lots of color coming...
I will never forget looking through my viewfinder this evening. Up close and personal with the greatest mountain on Earth. Disappearing in and out of the clouds in the most dramatic display of light I’ve ever seen. Truly I wish that each and everyone of you could’ve seen it too..
It’s a new day, a new beginning, I have a smile on my dial and no matter what I have to wade through I’m feeling pretty dam happy with life. Who’s with me?! P.s if you’re not feeling it (and it’s totally ok if you’re not) hopefully this pictures puts a smile on your dial for a moment or two 😊✌🏼 ☝🏼 @jess.wandering starting her day the right way
“I believe this world ain’t half as bad as it looks. I believe most people are good.” 🎼 . I’ve been getting really into county music lately. Just seems to be what my mind is drawn to these days while studying or commuting. Where my country fans at?? 🤗 #latetotheparty
I am not very knowledgeable on snakes at all, but after asking a few people and a little bit of research, I believe this is a Lake Erie Watersnake. “The Lake Erie watersnake was removed from of the list of federally endangered and threatened species on August 16, 2011. This species was originally listed as a federally threatened species on August 30, 1999.” - USFWS
Had such a blast yesterday with these two, figuring out the best starting moves and talking possible holds at “The Homeless Shelter” which I just put on MP. Also, today’s high is 75f. Just another reason to be thankful! Disclaimer: use a pad if ya got one
If you’re an outdoorsy person and an artist, odds are you’ll get along swell with other outdoorsy folk and artists. So very thankful for friendship with IdaBeth. She pushes me, inspires me, and gives me patience in the places I need to grow. She’s kind, graceful, hardworking, and determined. What a gal, what a pal.
"Go out in the woods, go out. If you don't go out in the woods, nothing will ever happen and your life will never begin." Clarissa Pinkola-Estés . I've been scrambling and hiking in the mountains a lot lately and that was my plan this weekend but my soul said, "No, go into the woods." And so I did. And I was not disappointed. . The woods rarely contain obvious Instagram-worthy beauty, their charms more subtle, but there is much to be discovered in a deep wood. . Where the kinglet sings and the ruffed grouse drums, worries and self-doubt wane. . I visited old favourite places - Grouse Gully, Raven Knoll, Black Bear Grove, the Porcupine Cliffs. You won't find these places on a map. They are just places where I have unearthed a few hidden gems to be discovered in a boreal forest. They are places I return to, where I can reconnect with the animals that live there. . I also discovered new stretches of forest and new sunny, crocus-filled grassy knolls with mountain views. On a lake I had not yet visited, I laid down to listen to the ice boom and feel it shudder. . I stumbled upon the quote at the beginning of this post when I was just a teenager beginning to backpack and hitchhike. It has been swirling in my head for two decades and continues to ring true. . . . . . . . . . . #moodygrams#wanderthewild#forestbathing#awakethesoul#livelifeoutside#optoutside#wildernessnation#sweatydirtyhappy#freshairandfreedom#wanderlust#intothewild#sheisnotlost#adventuretime#livesimply#healthandwellness#getoutstayout#goexplore#wandermore#wanderfullife#wildernessculture#outdoorist#thegreatoutdoors#theoutsiders
