I had a good friend that I haven’t seen in a little while tell me today that I looked happy (shout-out to you @tostadagram!) This meant a lot to hear because I have been silently working on myself lately. I’ve been making little goals for myself to better embrace the positive aspects of my life that make me happy. We are faced with so much negativity in this world day in and day out that it can be easy to lose track of all the positive things we should be thankful for. I began embracing some of the weaknesses I felt I had and finding a way to fix them. I’m living more in the moment and enjoying the time I spend with the awesome people in my life more. When I get angry I have learned to breathe through it and calm my temper instead of reacting rashly and negatively. I’m trying to put myself out there romantically more, because God knows the walls I’ve built to keep myself from getting hurt, which only causes me to second guess myself in my head. I know I made some potential connections in this department in this last year only for me to get into my head and get scared and back away. Evidently I look happier because I feel happier. A shift in perspective was all I needed. Well, I guess today was my earliest (it is only January) and hilliest half marathon I’ve ever run. I knew it will be tough, I mean we are talking about 400 feet (120m) elevation gain and we started with a steep hill. I asked myself ‘How Bad do I want this?’ and prepared myself mentally during the last days. I believe I was so excited about racing, that I went far too fast in the beginning. My better half and friends cheered, bands played and the weather was perfect. Right before the turning point it happened, I couldn’t keep up with the 2nd woman anymore. My legs felt so heavy and I really needed to push up that hill. I immediately slowed down and still had almost 7 miles to go with more hills to come. Even though, I missed my time goal by 40 seconds, I am still happy about my 1:18 at such a brutal course 😊. I am so fascinated about how many runners share the same passion and how happy everyone is after crossing the finish line. Grateful for another beautiful half marathon and for @_jimi_g joining. Congrats to your new PR! 🙏
Feeling so tired and not ready to go back to work tomorrow, but amazed at all the beauty we got to see this weekend 💯. I’ve never been that into camping. It wasn’t something my family did while I was growing up. @dualr LOVES camping tho, so I‘ve done my fair share of it the last few years with him and I must say, I’m starting to love it myself. For someone who’s never been a fan of dirt or not showering within a 24 hour period, that’s a big deal 😂. I have a rough week coming up: about every other day I’ll be leaving home before 6am and getting back around 10pm, and I have a class and two workouts on Saturday. Needless to say, food prepping today was pretty crucial (even though motivating myself to go out for groceries in this weather was a struggle). Meals: salmon on quinoa with a citrus balsamic glaze; hearty vegetable soup with cheese; pasta salad with brown rice pasta. ⚜️ 🇨🇦 La semaine qui s’en vient sera difficile. À chaque deux jours je serais en dehors de la maison pendant 16 heures et j’ai un cours et deux entraînements le samedi donc je vais devoir patienter un peu plus longtemps pour mon repos. J’avais donc besoin de me préparer des repas en masse pour la semaine: 1) du saumon et du quinoa avec du vinaigre balsamique aux agrumes (j’ai ajouté du citron et de la lime); 2) une soupe pleine de légumes, d’haricots et de fromage; 3) une salade de pâtes faites de riz brun.
