Saying hello to some beautiful dairy cows 😍🐮 to most this looks like a pretty picture but when you know the reality of these girls lives it's not so pretty 💔 Some facts about the dairy industry: • Cows must give birth to produce milk, just like any other mammal. • All calves are separated from their mothers usually within 24hrs or less • Male calves are deemed useless as they cannot produce milk so are either shot in the head on the first day of life, sold and raised for beef, exported abroad for veal or occasionally kept and used as a breeding bull. • Dairy cows are impregnated on a yearly basis, usually being re-impregnated 2-3 months after giving birth. • Dairy cows are still milked while pregnant. • Once milk production begin to decline dairy cows are slaughtered for meat, usually at approx 4-6 years old, their natural lifespan is 25yrs. #dairyisscary#ditchdairy

MULESING The most commonly raised sheep are merinos, who are specifically bred to have wrinkly skin, which means more wool per animal. This unnatural overload of wool causes many sheep to collapse and even die of heat exhaustion during hot months, and the wrinkles collect urine and moisture. Attracted to the moisture, flies lay eggs in the folds of skin, and the hatched maggots can eat the sheep alive. To prevent this so-called “flystrike,” ranchers perform a barbaric procedure called “mulesing,” in which they force live sheep onto their backs, restrain their legs between metal bars, and, often without any painkillers whatsoever, carve huge chunks of skin away from the animals’ backsides or attach vise-like clamps to their flesh until it dies and sloughs off. Both procedures are terribly painful. Mulesing is a crude attempt to create smoother skin that won’t collect moisture, but the exposed, bloody wounds often become infected or flystruck. Many sheep who have undergone the mulesing mutilation still suffer slow, agonizing deaths from flystrike. (via Peta)
Pain. Suffering. Fear. #meatthevictims Activists locked down a pig farm in the Netherlands and this was one of the suffering beings they found. They tried to save her but the police wouldn’t allow it. Please stop supporting this. This is normal, this happens all the time. Don’t fool yourself thinking the animals you purchase are happy and free. It doesn’t matter if it’s a family run farm or not. These animals ALL suffer the same and die the same. Repost @diutsky
Reposted from @jonvenus - Do you eat any of these fruits? 🍇 - We found reports that show the amount of antioxidants in fruits and it was super interesting! Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity known as ORAC, tests and quantifies the number of antioxidants in foods. Eating foods that have high amounts of antioxidants may be good for your heart health and may also help to lower your risk of infections and some forms of cancer. Antioxidants may also protect your cells against the effects of free radicals which are produced when your body breaks down food or is exposed to harmful substances and radiation 👊 - Some of the fruits with the highest amounts of antioxidants are Prunes, Raisins, Blueberries & Blackberries. I personally eat blueberries and raisins almost daily! Although these fruits are among the foods that contain the most antioxidants, antioxidants can be found in other foods too. Some of my favorite sources of antioxidants are Dark Chocolate, Pecans, Artichokes, Goji Berries, Raspberries and Kale. My advice to you is to increase your overall antioxidant intake by eating more nuts, seeds, legumes, fruits, and vegetables! ✔💚 - Tag a friend who needs to make some antioxidants gains! 💪🔥

In my opinion this is the ultimate vegan burger- a chunky veggie patty, spiced celeriac and apple slaw, crispy onions and cider apple 🍎 purée in a vegan bun 😍 This burger had so many flavours and really hit the spot after a day at work. They don’t script on the ingredients either, be prepared to get messy 😋😋The Brunswick chips are something to shout about as well.. look how chunky and crispy they are 😮😮 me and Bil absolutely loved this and we be returning for definite.. also they have a Wednesday deal were a 🍔 + 🍟 + 🍺 is only a tenner 😍 thanks for having us guys! 💚
What happens when you go to @lissysbunnies for exam revision... cuddling baby buns🐰💕 Mama bunny was rescued pregnant from irresponsible neglectful owners, they’re so lucky to have Lissy caring for them now. As cute as they are, rabbits are the most neglected pet in the UK, left alone in tiny hutches with no company or space to perform natural behaviour. Spay and neuter your pets to stop unnecessary pregnancies that put strain on rescues, and adopt don’t shop!! 💓
Terrified & Exhausted, these nameless 6 month old babies are long gone, but never forgotten. 🐾 Please consider bearing witness at weekly vigils with @laanimalsave on Sundays or with @animalalliancenetwork on Wednesday nights if you are in LA area. Truth. After months on a severely crowded feedlot, the animals are shipped without food or water to a slaughterhouse, where a metal rod is shot through their brains, they are hung upside down, and their throats are slit. Because line speeds are so fast, many animals are still conscious throughout the process. • Every time you eat animal-derived foods, you’re also ingesting fecal material, antibiotics, dioxins, and other toxic substances that can remain in your body for years. • Artificial hormones injected into animals cause health problems in humans who eat them. Many of these hormones are illegal in many countries. • All animals feel pain. Love. Joy. Fear. • Watch #dominion and #whatthehealth. Choose compassion. Be vegan.
