Let’s talk about the pyramid. SACRED GEOMETRY, amiright? 🤓 The pyramid is a symbol for the integration of self and soul. 🙏 In dreams the pyramid can represent death, major transition and rebirth. 🌔 Symbolically the base of the pyramid stands for the body, the sides show the spiritual attempts and the point symbolises the harmonious union of the human with the higher self or God Consciousness. 👁 —— - The ancient Egyptians saw the shape of the pyramids as a method of providing new life to the dead. ✨ The pyramid represented the form of the physical body emerging from the earth and ascending towards the heavens. 🌌
#mnt#museonazionaletarquiniense#tarquinia#italy#visititaly#rome#tourism#ancientcivilization#beauty#sculpture#tomb#gallery#museum#art#culture#africa#egypt#ancientegypt#etruscans
In November of 1994, the first issue of Atlantis Rising was published. The cover story of that issue, “Breaking the Silence,” featured an interview with John Anthony West on the re-dating of the Great Sphinx. West and his colleague, Boston University geologist, Dr. Robert Schoch, had looked at the evidence of water weathering on the Sphinx and its surroundings and produced a powerful geological case that the monument must be, at a minimum, 7,000 years old, and is probably much older. The work of West and Schoch had caused a worldwide sensation and been featured in an NBC documentary, “The Mystery of the Sphinx.” The debate which ensued has continued ever since, with the mainstream Egyptological establishment despite acceptance by most geologists hotly contesting the Sphinx’s greater antiquity. At stake, after all, is one of the most cherished notions of the current scientific paradigm, the idea that present civilization was born about 5,000 years ago and before that was only primitive darkness. #egypt#pyramid#sphinx#cairo#sand#mummy#statue#atlantis#science#scienceporn#geography#geology#sand#history#mystery#ancientcivilization
A couple years ago, @monisanjines & I visited Teotihuacán, an ancient settlement (100BC-550AD) about 25 miles outside of Mexico City. We explored the settlement & climbed the Sun Pyramid, & took in the history & the views. When I had the opportunity to check out the Teotihuacán art exhibit at @phxart with @theazlobo & @truebritt739, I dropped everything to check it out. It always amazes me to see artifacts from civilizations that developed & were destroyed so many years ago... It's amazing to get a glimpse, but as @theazlobo said, how much of these civilizations were lost or destroyed, how much do we not know? Quite a bit, I'm sure, but I am glad that there is so much of it that has been preserved. The exhibit runs through #january 27th, so don't miss out! #travel#art#nofilter#latergram#myphx
The Ancient Egyptians and the mysteries of how they lived have long haunted us even 5000 years later. While we all wonder about the mystery of how the pyramids were formed and why the Sphinx was created, most of us never bothered to think about the diet of this advanced and intriguing ancient civilization. The Egyptian diet consisted mainly of beer, meats and bread, bread being the most popular dish of the Egyptians. While wine was considered a luxury everyone drank beer even children were given beer along with their meals. They also had a heavy hand in agriculture. They milked cows and goats and had a heavily dairy based diet as well as a love for fish and poultry. Pheasants were even known to hunt ostriches not just for the meat but the eggs were considered a delicacy.

"Polychrome glazed composition tile: this expressive tile is of a captive Libyan chief. Portrayed with uplifted face and one arm bound by a rope, he wears ornamented chest-straps and a loin-cloth, the simple costume of an overlord of the ancient Libyan, or Tjehenu, tribe. His tattoos and pierced ear reflect current Libyan fashion. The surface of his body is modelled in relief, with moulded pieces like the face added separately. The tile has been reconstructed from three pieces. Another Libyan chief of this type appears on the glazed composition throne dais of Ramses II with the same pale skin, bright free-flowing hair, bare chest with crossed straps, and phallus sheath, a depiction contrasting sharply with the garb of most of the contemporary Meshwesh/Libu tribes and chiefs. It is possible that Ramses III chose this image to continue his pattern of imitating works by his famous predecessor. Unlike some of the other foreigners shown on the tiles, the Libyan tribes were a real threat to the Egyptians in the period of Ramses III, and much wall space at Ramses Ill's temple at Medinet Habu depicts battles involving this group. While prisoner tiles are usually emblematic - lacking specific titles or place names - a chief of this type comes to life ar Medinet Habu as a semi-legendary individual named Meshesher, shown with his father Keper." . Livy’s Beginning: the Naming of the City (date:753 BC)After killing his brother Remus, Romulus became sole ruler of his group (shepherds, companions, and Alba Longians). He decided to name the newfound settlement after himself. He called it Rome. His first act as king of the city was to fortify the Palatine Hill. This was the hill where he observed his augury on. There, he offered sacrifice to the gods using Alban forms except in the case of Hercules. In Hercules’s case, he followed the Greek ritual instituted by Evander the Greek.
