Když byli tygr i had v předchozí historce mrtví, bylo na čase, aby muž něco udělal. Přestal tady lapat po medu, s jistým úsilím se vyškrábal ze studny a odešel z džungle domů, do bezpečí. Život neobnáší jen nicnedělání a vychutnávání medu. Jeden mladík se Sydney mi vyprávěl, jak se kdysi v Thajsku setkal s mým učitelem Ajahnem Chahem a dostal to nejlepší radu do života. Mladík se rozhodl podniknout dlouhou cestu do Thajska jen proto, aby se s velkým mnichem setkal a položil mu několik otázek. Je to dlouhá cesta. Když po osmihodinovém letu ze Sydney dorazil do Bangkoku, sedl na noční vlak, který ho deset hodin vezl do Ubonu. Tam se mu nějak podařilo sehnat taxi do Wat Nong Pah Pongu, Ajahn Chahova kláštera. Unavený, ale vzrušený nakonec došel k Ajahn Chahové chatrči. Učitel byl slavný. Seděl jako obvykle pod svou chatrčí, obklopen houfem mnichů a generálů, chudých farmářů a bohatých kupců, vesnických žen v hadrech a vyfintěných dam z Bangkoku, kteří tu seděli bok po boku. Pod Ajahn Chahovou chatrčí si byli všichni rovni. Australan se usadil na kraji toho houfu. Uplynuly dvě hodiny a Ajahn Chah si ho ani nevšim. Před ním tu bylo tolik jiných lidí. V zoufalství se zvedla odcházel. Jak procházel areálem kláštera k hlavní bráně, viděl, jak u zvonice nějací mniší zametají listí. Do příjezdu najetého taxíku mu zbývala ještě hodinu, a tak vzal koště a začal také zametat v naději, že si tím třeba trochu vylepší karmu. Asi po půl hodině pilného zametáním mu kdosi položil ruku na rameno. Obrátil se a ke svému úžasu a radostném vzrušení zjistil, že ruka patří Ajahna Chahovi, který stál před ním a usmíval se. Ajhn Chah ho viděl, ale neměl možnost ním promluvit. Teď byl na cestě z kláštera na nějakou schůzku, tak se zastavil u mladíka ze Sydney, aby mu dal dar. Rychle cosi řekl thajsky a odešel za svými záležitostmi. Mnich
One of the few universal truths in our world is that life is not linear. Circumstances do not always progressively get better. This summer and fall I fell into a depression that rocked me harder than I had been in a long time. I did my best to stay present in the constant discomfort and malaise as I used every tool in my proverbial mental health toolbox, knowing that eventually I would shift out of darkness. . I sought out an opportunity to do something I had always wanted to do and finally had the time for. I was willing to do anything to feel different. I left Utah. I intended to be gone for maybe two weeks. That was almost five weeks ago. I can now feel the warmth of the healing that has occurred, is occurring, will continue to occur. The healing that I couldn't feel was happening in the shadows. . I live in a constant state of flow and openness because I never know what tomorrow will look like these days. I like it. I've slept in a few parking lots and held my pee in at night because I didn't have a good place to go more times than I would prefer. I feel more free than I did before even though we are all free all the time. I feel better. Happier. . I'm still getting clear, but I think the lesson I have to offer currently is that in the magic dark, sometimes you have to hit what feels like rock bottom before you can rise again... we must stay present in the discomfort even when it is unbearable. Take leaps of faith. When your brain tries to shut down lofty ideas, goals and dreams, ask yourself: what if it was possible? Allow yourself to exist ripped open with your deepest triggers exposed so that you can examine them more closely. The thing you're most sensitive about is what you need to face the most. It's okay to be scared, but what if you pushed forward through that fear? But hey, be soft on yourself- we're only human. . Last night’s opening of the NE9 “The Fruit and the Seed” wasn’t just a success it was a personal milestone for me. Working with the 38 artists, my beloved #teamninja, the wider install team, volunteers, patrons, collectors, painters, contractors, glass and plexi specialists, truckers, caterers etc etc...continues to humble me. They say in the Caribbean that we can’t be excellent. This is a myth, a blatant LIE to keep us fixed in the mindset of intolerance, greediness and regression of our communities, personal lives, culture and the industry. The artists came out with fists up and hearts open and I don’t have the words to let them know yet what that means to me as a creative professional who at times has to struggle to love this space, our Caribbean. I have grown and stretched myself and my compassion and learning to care for this place and my people in ways that I thought I couldn’t. And with that there is no greater love. I am so very thankful to be feeling healthy and on track with my wellness again. Even though I fell off all the wagons, I was fully present and committed to the work and my team- supporting them and loving their absolute brilliance. They are my lifeblood and the reason that I keep on keeping on. The cynicism of 2018 is starting to lift at just the right time. “Take a deep breath”... is what my teacher always tells me every time I’m back to that old pattern of doubting my self-worth. 🙏🏽✨ . In a few weeks, I am heading to Mysore 🇮🇳, immersing myself to this Ashtanga Yoga practice with Sharathji for the first time. This is my 4th attempts in the past 2 years that I finally got accepted to study in KPJAYI with guruji himself. . I am beyond grateful that I feel like I am more ready than I have ever been... maybe it’s just the right timing, maybe it’s a little bit of luck... maybe it’s also everything in between and more! . I know I will learn so much about myself when I’m there for the good, bad and ugly. So much truth about this practice and journey that I chose to take will be revealed in front of my eyes that will keep my mind and my heart wide open. . Today I’m practicing sitting with uncomfortable feelings without reacting with rage and punching people! No, seriously. It’s been a real struggle this week and I long to tell people exactly what I think of them... but that would be too mean... so I tried to find ways to say it but it gets lost on deaf ears. That’s frustrating ... so I’m going to just keep practicing when I want to act out and not keep banging my head against a brick wall. Days 6 & 7 of #12daysofselfcare was massage and stretch. I love my foam roller for both of these things. My favorite is to massage my glutes, then upper back, then just drape over the roller at the tightest area of my spine and breathe and relax into a deep stretch. My upper back felt super tight and sore this morning and this routine was heaven and relieved so much tension. This is the short version. I spent about 15 mins rolling out.
