NEW: the debut self-titled album from The Mauskovic Dance Band, will be released 24 May on vinyl LP and digital. Listen or download the first single “Space Drum Machine” now at soundway.lnk.to/mauskovic (link in bio). ———————————————————————— The in-demand five piece fuse no-wave dance punk, Afro-Caribbean rhythms and space disco in a “controlled explosion” (The Quietus). Entirely self-produced and recorded in the storage space of Amsterdam nightclub Garage Noord, The @mauskovicdanceband have reiterated their favourite elements of the 70s and 80s legacy of the Afro-Latin psychedelic music of Colombia and Peru, interpreting it through the context of modern day Amsterdam. The output is a lo-fi No Wave groove all its own - rooted in a deep love of champeta, palenque, psychedelic cumbia, chichi, classic afrobeat and picó soundsystem culture. ———————————————————————— Album cover art: @riccardo_corda

You Will Never Be One of Us - Nails. This record redefined the term 'heavy' for me which is a term which has been thrown so much its lost its weight over the years. Produced by Kurt Ballou, US three piece Nails have conjured up some of the most violently abrasive music I have ever heard. The band are primarily are hardcore punk band but still incorporates the archaic tendencies of grindcore, the stomp of sludge metal and the intricate guitar leads of death metal. 'You Will Never Be One of Us' knocks you out with its first punch, before continuously ripping into you until your bones have been pummelled into dust on the floor. Eight of the record’s ten tracks are under two minutes long, and each is built around shaking blast beats, dark, guttural vocals and pummelling riffs. The excellent production by Kurt Ballou never muddies the waters and for a record with so much mayhem and violent flair, the production is a testament to Ballou's knowledge and talent as he expertly assists the clear instrumentation of the record. Tracks like 'Violence Is Forever' incorporate a short lived Kerry King inspired guitar solo coupled over the dark, brooding anger, whilst the closing 8 minute monster of track 'They Come Crawling Back' pushes the bands boundaries; letting them take their time and experimenting with a vast array of genres instead of cramming almost too much into less than a minute. Needless to say, it is frustrating that only two of the tracks really allow the band to show their true talent. Eight out of the 10 tracks on the record are over in the blink of an eye; most becoming interchangeable and not allowing that savage brutality to build. I still believe that more variety within their music and attempting to flesh out more ideas could have gone further than just a brutal hammer to the face of violent hardcore. But nevertheless, YWNBOU is still everything an extreme music fan could want and certainly more. - Nat Stand Out Track(s): You Will Never Be One of Us &
