This photo makes me wanna lol every time 😂 // currently at a coffee shop and I feel so productive right now! Probably all the caffeine but hey whatever gets me through this mountain of editing that I have to get through 🤓
Pretty damn thankful for this guy. In the summer my schedule can only be described as insane. He willingly takes the backseat roll and holds it down for our lively family unit and doesn’t complain one bit. Raise your hand if you’re a fan of the men who support their partners in chasing their dreams, who do the dishes and laundry, cook dinners and play dress up without batting an eye. Loving these summer vibes and these two guys who got married two weeks ago. I have a billion photos to edit, but my heart is full of joy and I feel honored to meet incredible couples and people every time I shoot a wedding. This job makes me happy and grateful. 🖤
I’d like to say a round of thanks for lots of standing fans, cold showers, cold and wet towels, ice water and swimming for the last two days of no AC at our house. It got up to 96° in here. 😓 I’ll never take air conditioning for granted again! So grateful it’s up and running again after getting a whole new unit. I’m laying here on the floor feeling like I’m in heaven.
Jessica + Oreste. I think at this point they were just overwhelmed and trying to soak everything in. It’s always nice to take some time not taking photos and just letting the couple enjoy the moment without distraction. Photo | @lenawithalens with @chugachpeaksphotography
Yesterday we went on the best of adventures helping Jessica + Oreste elope in some of the prettiest parts of Alaska I’ve ever seen. They traveled all the way from Florida and it was pure magic traipsing the wilderness with these two. ❤️ Erin - Planning | @alaskadestinationweddings Photo | @chugachpeaksphotography
I couldn’t have dreamt up this evening even if I tried. Alex and Shawn’s rainy day transformed into the most magical night. The fog hovering above the forest floor, the moon shining against the pink sky, it was all too much so naturally, I resorted to singing like an opera singer as I took this.
Being a photographer is quite interesting. You get to meet all kinds of lovely people who are trusting you to document these particular moments in time for them, in turn experiencing the happy, euphoric, hilarious, frustrating and sometimes sad moments that they experience as well. There’s always one question that everyone asks “How did you get into photography?”. It’s never a bad question! I’m always happy to share the happy accident that turned me onto the hobby that turned into my art and career. But no one ever asks “What inspires you?”. So. What inspires me? The whole damn planet inspires me. My adventure into the photo world began by taking photos of flowers in my mother’s back yard and it’s still my favorite thing to do today. There is such a love between the plants and the animals in it. An intricate dance that we pass by on a daily basis. The fact that our planet is so diverse that every single continent is different in its landscape, creatures, vegetation. How freaking wild is that?! The sky and weather changes every single day. How lucky are we to get to experience this?! Traveling and truly experiencing these places is just so incredible. SO incredible. The next subject of my inspiration is film photography. Not just the act of using film, but the unpredictability of it. Overexposure, underexposure, blurry, super grainy, not too grainy, imperfect, double exposures, all of it. The photos I take that I love the most are imperfect. They’re blurry. I keep them and deliver them because to me, that’s an important moment. Whether it was movement on my end or the subjects, it’s no less a precious moment as a perfectly focused photo. We are not perfect as humans, and photography is never perfect either. Those imperfections are perfect to me. Cliche? Oh hell yes. But there is nothing but truth behind that statement. Often I find myself feeling the need to be “perfect” in everything I deliver. It goes against all that I just said
