We are so thankful for Bayside Pet Resort and everything they do for our animals! To top it off, we recently had a lovely donation from the Bayside family's Grandchildren, who raise money over the weekend by doing chores for our shelter pets! We cannot thank them enough! A big shout out to them & their family :)
This lover is still here and looking for his furever home. He is an adorable tripod! Bam Bam is a Pit Bull Terrier mix who was brought to our Animal Clinic directly as an owner surrender when his previous owners could not afford the amputation surgery of his right front leg. Due to radial damage, sweet Bam Bam could not keep his front right leg-- but that doesn't stop him from enjoying his life! Fun is definitely not limited to four legs and Bam Bam will just love to keep you on your toes! His vivacious personality and brave spirit will make you fall in love at the get-go. At just 2 years old, this spunky dude has plenty of energy and desires an owner that adores adventuring as much as he does. He would not likely be right for a home with cats or other small animals, because he's shown us that he might be a little too interested in, yet not gentle enough for, the smaller critters. Thinking of adding this spectacular furry amputee to your life? Don't hesitate to come to HSSC and meet with him! You won't regret it! We also offer our slumber party program with Bam Bam, for 3–30 days you can take him home to see if he is the right fit for you or your family
This Saturday we will be at the Earth Day Festival with The Learning Cottage: Sarasota from 10am–1pm. Join us for some fun activities for the kiddos. We will be there with Big Mac and some adoptable fur babes!
#feelgoodfriday When you know, you know… Lowell came to our Quakertown location on April 12 and was looking for a cat companion. He was there for a quite some time and looked around at all our available cats. A staff member suggested Sadie, an 8-year-old all black cat who loves to “beg” for your attention. She was hanging out in one of our offices and he instantly fell in love and knew that’s who he was taking home. Kelsey (Lowell’s daughter) writes: hello! just wanted to send you a few pictures of "Sadie" now known as "Pretty Lady". My dad adopted her a week ago from the Quakertown shelter and it's been a love fest! She and my dad have quickly bonded, and they are enjoying their times together. She will cuddle with him in the bed and will literally "beg" for treats! Thank you so much for all your help! #buckscountyspca#adoptdontshop#lovefound#adopted#feelgood#feelgoodfriday#fureverhome#startastoryadopt#lovefest
10 years ago, I had set out to attain a lifetime goal of mine: to find my biological family. I had always known my parent’s names, as well as my two sisters who shared the same mom. Through the help of social media (MySpace at the time,) I was able to find both sisters who happened to live in my same hometown in WA. In the summer of 2009 I had the opportunity to meet them for first time. Leading up to this there was a lot of nerves and anxiousness, but mostly excitement. Meeting them immediately filled a void in my heart that I knew was missing. I am beyond blessed to have been able to maintain a close relationship with them ever since. Especially after moving back to WA about 7 years ago. For my 26th birthday, my sister Christina gifted me the Ancestry DNA test after she had taken hers. I was finally going to know my ethnicity that I had always wondered about my whole life. What I didn’t know—was that I’d be finding out detailed information about my biological father. And that his brother was going to reach out to me. My father’s older brother and his wife had been searching for me since my father passed away. The last words my father spoke were of me to my uncle. Of how, “If I were to ever look for him—or if I found my uncle—to tell me that he loves me and that he’s sorry and regrets his decision,” (for putting me up for adoption.) If it wouldn’t have been for my aunt who took the Ancestry test herself and found her biological family, she would have never been so encouraging to my uncle on taking the test to find me. I unfortunately will not have the privilege of meeting my father, but I am now on my way to meet the rest of his family today in Texas. I will be meeting my three uncles and their family, my grandmother, and my older sister—which now makes her my sister number 5. :) It’s been 28 years of me waiting for this day.... I’m anxious and excited as expected, but more so thankful. I’m thankful for all the dots God has
