Weissach leviathans lurking in the Canepa Motorsports division. Bruce Canepa’s Porsche 935, the last factory 935 and longest-owned 935 in existence, and the incomparable 1969 Porsche 917K that won the 24 Hours of Daytona in 1970. Group 4 “Sports Car” and Production-based.
The Porsche 908 fibreglass body suspended at the @porsche.museum For somebody like myself who has worked with carbon fibre for many years this exhibit stole my attention. The light inside the body shell shines through the thin walls of the fibreglass body showing just how thin it is. It weighs in at just 130kg! Not only does it show just how far technology has come today since the 1960’s but the lengths @Porsche engaged in to make their race cars even faster and lighter. After the 908 came the 917. Which also sported fibreglass parts. In 1970 #23 917K (red & white car - photos 6&7) took victory at the 1970 Le Mans 24 hour race. This would be the first of many wins. #porsche#908#917k#ferdinandpiech#hansmezger#lemans#history#porschemuseum#stuttgart
