👉 ⏩ _ We’ve all had memorable life moments at a concert, so every week I’m going to post a short, made-for-Instagram retrospective on those beloved and important houses of music. For the first installment, let’s talk about The Opera House. _ 001: Along with the Broadview Hotel, The Opera House is the crown jewel of the Riverside district. Incredibly the venue has been in operation for 110 years! (I believe Massey Hall and Great Hall are the only other venues still in operation that are older). Opening in 1909, it started with mainly vaudeville shows under the name La Plaza Theatre. As part of Britain’s drive to enlist Canadians for the war effort, war-themed variety shows would be regularly presented to help attract new recruits for WWI (see ads above). As vaudeville declined and moving pictures became all the rage, the venue converted to a cinema. Despite its name, elevated railings at the side stage, and the 35-foot proscenium (arch), it never actually presented opera. In 1990 it was purchased by the Towers family, and re-named Opera House. It immediately became an essential venue with its good sightlines and sound, embrace of all-ages events, and willingness to host shows from all genres including hip-hop, punk, metal, and raves. That’s why if you grew up in the 90’s you most certainly had an experience or two at The Opera House. Anybody who’s been following this account has seen for themselves the incredible talent that's graced its stage: Beck, Massive Attack, Green Day, Rage, The Roots, the list goes on and on. Have you been to a show at The Opera House? What’s your most memorable concert there? 😎HAPPY SOLD SATURDAY😎 Congratulations to my client on the purchase of her new condo at 55 De Boers Dr, Toronto!🍾 In less than two weeks after selling her condo, I found her the perfect place to call home. Close to family, friends, public transportation and more, we had to act fast on this one. The seller was holding back offers until next week, but with the right offer and negotiating we locked this one up early! Enjoy your new home! Belt Squat Drop Set • Load up each side with 3 25 lbs plates and complete as many reps as you can. Once you reach your max, have a partner strip one plate from each side. Repeat until all the plates are off and your last set is bodyweight. • This is a great finisher for your lower body workout. Since the weight is hip loaded and you have handles for support, you can push your self safely. • Enjoy!
Our first time at a Thai restaurant after being back from Thailand. All we can say is that we miss Thailand. The food here was good but way more authentic in Thailand. Flavors are more defined and tasted much more fresh. Although this restaurant was still delicious and service was great, we still loved the food in Thailand.
