STRENGTH/HYPERTROPHY PLATEAU AND HOW TO BUST THROUGH IT . Whole point of the "forced adaptation" is to "force" your body to adapt to external stress which comes through volume(sets, reps, resistance/load...). . I actually explained bunch of different ways how to bust through some kind of plateau(strength or muscle growth) but here's one which almost seems like it's counter-intuitive to others I mentioned. . 🔵Whole point of structured progression model is to increase training volume and intensity over time which are basically primary drivers for muscle growth(and intensity is the whole point of strength specific training) but at a certain point adding plates or reps becomes hard or even impossible and this is where people would use something conventional like a deload and start a new training block(or change training split altogether). 🔵Yes this might work but sometimes your body needs just a little bit more additional volume to bust through current plateau and deloading or starting again at lower volume/intensity will "close that window". . But how can I add more volume if I can't add more weight or reps? ➡️Well you can add additional set(s) and basically increase volume while staying at the same intensity. Some training programs already have that kind of progression model where you're adding sets but usually they're used in some kind of block periodization or simple non-linear periodization through multiple mesocycles. Recreational lifters rarely train in this fashion though. ➡️If muscle growth is where you've hit a plateau than adding intensity techniques like drop sets, rest pause sets, forced reps, negative reps, partial reps can basically increase total workload and stress on muscle and therefore push that volume just enough to get you through that plateau. ➡️Add additional exercise in the same plane of motion! This is a great way to improve sticking points on particular compound lift and very efficient way to bust through some type of
