The Golden Gate bridge remains one of the most iconic & recognised structures in the USA. Saw it from the airplane on the landing approach, a dozen times driving in and around the city and eventually ended up on it, early one morning; tick! . When the charm wears off, and the thoughts they wander, invariably in my case, they end up parking on 'how nice it would be to reside in cities like these'. Beautiful landscapes, great weather, unpolluted air, people getting on with their morning runs, bicycle commutes to work and drivers who rarely resort to honking. Drive around a 100 miles radius and you have some stunning get-aways. So yes, the bridge looks fine; but what it's built around is what hits you a bit more.
