One time, I made a goal to save up x amount of money and take a one-way flight to Thailand. I hadn’t really traveled before this backpacking thing so I knew I had a lot to learn. Also, nobody wanted to go with me to the same extreme (sell everything, travel indefinitely). I’m pretty sure I was still inquiring with friends of mine up until the last week like “you sure you don’t want to just try this country hopping thing with me?” Blank stares. I was meant to go solo. Needed to explore and get lost and struggle with that loneliness I was so afraid of. The fear of meeting myself and not liking her. Turns out, I’m a creature of light and adaptation. Today I’ve been to 27 countries. Here are all the flags: 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🇹🇭 🇲🇲 🇱🇦 🇰🇭 🇲🇾 🇮🇩 🇸🇬 🇮🇳 🇳🇵 🇮🇱 🇯🇴 🇲🇦 🇵🇹 🇪🇸 🇵🇪 🏴 🇩🇪 🇵🇱 🇭🇺 🇹🇷 🇿🇦 🇳🇦 🇧🇼 🇿🇼 🇿🇲 (if you’re waiting for someone to travel with you.. stop. Go alone.)
Damaraland highlights: seeing how the ancient Damara people used to live. Later on when I went to the bathroom to wash off the sand, there was a donkey sipping water near the door, and a few more donkey friends a short distance away. Scrabble battles began. I believe ‘batty’ was an approved word on this day, @hamforshort?
#damaraland#damaralivingmuseum#adoroviajar#namibiatrip#namibia#afrika#africa
Our third Safari was in the desert in Damaraland. It was so hot during the day at least 40’C! 🥵Sleeping outside under the stars was amazing and lovely & cool! Our lodge is run by the local people and was very nice. Doro! Nawas camp. #expertafrica
One of my favorite adventures so far! Getting out in the wild and driving through dry riverbeds while searching for desert elephants! Sitting by the bonfire at night and cooking under the stars! Sleeping in the nature far away from hotels and towns... #bucketlist#adventure#namibia#outdoor#damaraland#bushlife
After the veterinary work with cheetah and leopard which was funded by our guest participation on this African Vet Safari- thank you- we headed north west into remote Damaraland. The terrain is arid and wildlife is not in abundance. We were thus privileged to spend time with this dessert adapted herd of elephant shortly after arriving!!#brotherssafaris #africanvetsafaris#bigcatsafaris#brotherssafaris#drpeterbrothers#namibia#bigcatsafari
