Would you pay a premium on clothing and food (and other items, such as electronics, home good, etc.) if that premium invested in the needs of a workforce? Things like health insurance, gas vouchers, sanitation kits, subsidized food, or rebuilding homes after natural disasters? 87% of Millenials say yes! 👍👍How about you? ❓ Even when money is tight, when given the option we always try to select Fair Trade certified! ✌🌱😁 #repost @fash_revusa ・・・ Fair treatment of humans within our fashion supply chain seems like a no-brainer, but with many structural barriers in place, how are organizations working to achieve this? Anna Banks, Chief Marketing Officer at #fairtradeusa, discusses the non-profit’s focus on the fair treatment of workers in our latest #sustainablefashiontalks. As a long-time Marie Kondo fan, Iris's message resonates with me deeply. Surround yourself in only items you love, that will serve you well, that have good karma (made in an ethical and sustainable way), and for bonus points can easily be recycled or upcycled into their next reincarnation! Enjoy!!! ♥️✌🌿 #repost @fash_revusa ・・・ “Consumers should take a step back and say, ‘Do I need so much stuff?’” says Iris Alonzo, co-founder and creative director of @everybody.world. With the recent Marie Kondo craze in mind, thinking differently about the “stuff” we have and making sure it is really something that adds positivity to our lives is of the utmost importance. Thank you @miafashionfilmfest for the newest addition to our trophy family, awarded to @carlospolite for #beststyling in #iamanindividual. Carlos we're keeping it warm for you, come visit! 🤗 Holding company are a couple of #bestdocumentary awards for #peyotedreams, the doc that forever opened our eyes to the artisans behind the clothes we wear, and #bestcinematography to my partner in crime @luisbarreto13 😎 for our passion project @ethetics. And of course our recent pride and joy #bestfashionfilm also for #iamanindividual from @cinemoinetwork @cffawardsofficial!!! 🏆 The biggest reward from these awards is how ethical, sustainable, and socially responsible brands and stories are making an impact. I am amazed with every designer I meet who recognizes the problems that exist in fashion and are finding beautiful solutions. As storytellers Luis and I want to help these brands tell their stories in beautiful and impactful ways. So 🙏THANK YOU🙏 to the festivals and juries for supporting these brands by providing a platform and exposure where they might not have that opportunity, since they are putting money into quality textiles, environmental manufacturing, and fair working conditions, and not just PR. 🙏🙏🙏
#tbt to our interview with @londonfashionfilmfestival and why I love flmaking fashion films! #repost @londonfashionfilmfestival ・・・ Why Make a Fashion Film? AMBER MOELTER: Probably because of my dance background, I have always been drawn to glamorous costumes. When I was producing and directing indie films there wasn’t enough fantasy for my taste! I was writing these sci-fi scripts and my professors were advising me to be less ambitious. That didn’t sit right with me – why make films if you aren’t in love with the story you are telling? With our first fashion film Immortal Game we had total creative freedom to tell a story around a capsule collection. We had a lot of fun researching and writing a fashion scenario around the Immortal chess game, allowing the different looks to represent the key chess pieces in the game. As for Peyote Dreams (nominated for Best Documentary at LFFF), we had an incredible opportunity to travel to Mexico and document a very private village in the mountains. On that film we discovered a deep passion for directing fashion documentaries. Great words to consider with Black Friday coming up from former @fash_revusa Executive Director (and now Exec. Dir. of @thenewfashioninitiative!!!) @laurenbfay on why overconsumption concerns her. 🌍🌎🌏 What can you do?! Take part in the MAKE SMTHNG challenge instead of buying. Visit @makesmthng for a month's worth of creative ideas and Insp. #makessmthng#disruptblackfriday#greenfriday#haulternative 👩🔧👩🏭👩🎨 #repost @fash_revusa ・・・ Which issue in fashion most concerns you? For our Executive Director @laurenbfay, consumption is at the heart of the problem. “We’re outstepping what the earth has to provide,” says Fay, noting that fashion’s pressures on natural resources are a polar opposite to its original purpose of honoring craft and culture. Fay’s full interview as part of our Sustainable Fashion Talks series is now up in our Stories ⬆️ Check out our “Fashion Talks” highlight to view the full series! . . . 🎥: @noirtribe @fash_rev @celinecelines @thelibrary_eco @mitmedialab @acehotel @gstarraw #fashrevusa#fashrev#fashionrevolution#whomademyclothes#imadeyourclothes#noirtribe#sustainablefashion#ethicalfashion#thelibrarystudyhall#lovedclotheslast
Almost exactly one year ago we premiered I AM AN INDIVIDUAL at @inexmoda #bcapital in Bogotá, Colombia. 🇨🇴🇨🇴🇨🇴 We created a concept to honor the @firmapolite collection of the same name, and the singular designs of artistic director @carlospolite. With the words of five models, we tell five of their powerful stories of love, appearance, friendship, empowerment, and dreams. ❤️💇🏻👩❤️👩💃🏽🌾 . . We are still processing Saturday night where we won Best Fashion Film at the @cinemoinetwork CinéFashion Fashion Film Awards. 😊 We joined other legends on that stage such as honorees @wyclefjean and @patriciafield. 😍😍😍 . . We can't thank the Cinémoi jury enough for awarding a film with a social message and featuring an ethical designer - also giving us a chance to bring our ethical and sustainable values to the stage. We feel we must all do whatever is in our abilities to make the world better, for us that's creating positive films that support designers, brands, organizations, and individuals that are using their talents to make positive change for the environment and her people. 🌍🌎🌏 . Thank you to Carlos Polite and Inexmoda for this incredible opportunity, and to our hard-working crew for making magic happen. And most of all to our models for baring your souls and bodies (we won't forget how you froze your butts off in Polite's gorgeous silk and worked through the rain). 💧💧💧 . SOOO MANY THANKS TO: .
