IT’S OKAY TO WALK AWAY ⠀⠀ We all have this little voice inside our head (aka the ego). I’m sure you’ve heard it before, it’s that little voice that tells you that you’re not good enough, that the world can’t support a bigger version of yourself, or that people don’t want you around. You know what I’m talking about? To that little voice inside our head, we are never going to be good enough, it doesn’t matter what we achieve career wise, how fit we are, how healthy our diet is. That little voice always has something to point out that is wrong with us or that is not good enough yet. For a lot of people it’s a constant battle pushing past what that little voice has to say. So why the heck are we allowing people into our lives that are telling us the same thing as that nasty little ego? We are already battling with negativity, don’t let others add to it. ⠀⠀ If you have people in your life that make you feel like you’re less then enough, or that you have to change for them to be nicer to you. If you have people that make you question your worth. Know it is okay to walk away. There will be people that make you feel like the bad guy, and make everything your fault. ⠀⠀ Know your worth. ⠀⠀ Feel your power. ⠀⠀ Walk away. ⠀⠀ Surround yourself with people that feel like sunlight.
Happy Monday everyone! This weekend chucked me some curve balls on how I have envisioned my life. It’s been tough, but it has also shown me how strong I have become. The most important thing I do when I am struggle with tough times is surround myself with the people who feel like sunlight, and I remind myself of all that I am grateful for. When the gap between where you are and where you envision yourself seems like an impossible bridge to cross, take a moment and look at how far you have come on your journey. All the little steps that you have taken to get you to this very moment. It could be as little as getting out of bed, having a shower, even having something to eat. Every little step is important for our growth. Take a moment to think of all those times when you thought you couldn’t possibly go on, but here you are right now! You have made it this far! What is stopping you for going even further? Are you allowing yourself to feel your emotions, or are you recognising and valuing your own needs? Are you allowing yourself to be vulnerable? Or have you simply noticed that something needs to change? Are you allowing yourself to experience the feeling of being fully ALIVE? It doesn’t matter where you have come from, or where you are heading. Take a moment and appreciate your journey. Take a moment to give yourself a pat on the back, a little extra self care. You have made it this far, no one else has got you to this point. Only you. Be proud of yourself, you’re an absolute legend for simply being in this moment. ✨
These two marvellous little creatures are one of the main things that kept me going at my darkest times. There is something about the unconditional love that you get from your dog, that is different to anything to else. ⠀⠀ As someone who feels a lot more than they think logically (I know I’m not the only one 😂) it can be easy to get caught up and let others influence your mood and emotions. Ever come home from work and your partner is in a mood and you take it personally? Or has someone ever been a bit off with you and you have taken it personally? Even though I am doing a LOT of work on growing in this area, I know that sometimes if I’m not careful I fall straight back into this trap. I need to check in with myself and remind myself to think a little more logically about the situation. It doesn’t matter how much someone loves you, they aren’t going to be able to fill your love cup up 100% of the time. Everyone has stuff going on, everyone is dealing with their own demons and sometimes people are just not going to be in a good mood. And that’s okay. It’s just important for us “feelers” to remind ourselves of this. When I’m in a bad head space I’m someone who needs reassurance, I need love. These two puppers were the ones who constantly gave me love and reassurance, they were always happy to see me, and always up for a good cuddle. COMFORT ZONES This weekend was all about stepping out of my comfort zone whilst loving and appreciating every second of this beautiful life. I love this photo because it shows me just how far I have come. To me this is a young women who is comfortable in her own skin, it shows me courage, it shows a wild side, to me it shows love. There is no way I would have ever posted anything like this before. If old Ally had seen this photo she would have immediately picked out all of the imperfections and spent the rest of the day hating the way she looked. ⠀⠀ This photo was taken right after I had decided to jump into my favourite swimming hole on a crazy impulse. We were in the middle of nowhere surrounded by nature. It was bloody cold. But it was also one of the most freeing and invigorating things I have ever done. Old Ally would have found every reason not to do it. @trewrussellbrand wrote “Do you sometimes question whether you have the option or right to be happy? The churning blank march of metropolitan life feels like the droning confirmation that joy is not an option.” This is exactly how I used to feel. I based my happiness on external factors and never thought joy was something that I could achieve within myself. I thought I needed people to love me, I lived for their approval. Finding love, joy & happiness within myself is what sets me free. There is no growth when we sit comfortably in our comfort zones. Push the boundaries, do things that excite you.
