♡♡Reintroduction time!♡♡ It's me, @knitvee , aka Vanessa. I am from Shedden, a hamlet in Ontario, with my Spouse, Phil. I have been knitting for over 3 years, self taught. I started to knit as a form of creativity, art, & to release emotions. I never wanted to go through life & feel I wasted my brain & talent since I am unable to work. ♡ I am physically disabled from an autoimmune disease called Vasculitis. I was diagnosed with Polyarteris Nodosa in July 2010 (symptoms of disease started 9 months prior), resulting in permanent nerve damage mainly in my hands & feet, but it also effected my entire body. When I was 13 years old I was diagnosed with anxiety & depression. Both are currently in remission. ♡ I have always been someone who went to the Arts in order to express myself. Knitting has allowed me to prove to myself I am capable of making amazing things. It has shown me a new level of patience. A lot of my knitting wouldn't be possible if I didn't find @flexknitneedles , with my dexterity problems, these knitting needles have been able to help me to expand my knitting skills. Because of this, my thought process has changed from "I can't" to "What do I have to lose?". People always say they want to knit, what do you have to lose? I've learned so much in the last 3 years, than in the 10 before that! ♡ Mostly, it has opened up a world on Instagram for me to share my creations. Thank you to all of my friends & supporters on here, you make a gal feel real special! ♡ Follow the hashtag tags I use! #knitwithvee#disabledknitter#flexknitneedles#yarnbenders @yarnbendingdames
Some outdoors knitting from last week! I am currently working on a very thick, weighted blanket. To make the blanket, I am using 5 or 6 different strands of yarn, making individual panels & sewing them together. I decided to make the blanket in smaller parts to prevent strain, & repetition. But please enjoy the sounds of the country! . . . #stthomasproud#stthomasontario#lndnont#portstanley#southwoldtownship#shedden
Extra rolls of rando yarn, inspired by all the beautiful shawls, turned last Monday into Purple Haze. Started this early Monday morning & it was completed by bedtime! Its fun to pick up random quick projects. It breaks up your regular routine. Spice up your knitting! Started on the @flexknitneedles since my dexterity doesn't like the first couple rounds on circular needles.
Here they are! The I Scream, You Scream, Ice Cream Sisters! Picture 1- Front View Picture 2- Back View . These were so much fun to make! . The pattern used was the Garter Stitch Tank, using a Waffle pattern, instead of the Garter. One shirt was made on 5.5mm @flexknitneedles & the second was made with 5.5mm circular needles.
