Everything I create is deeply inspired by nature. ⠀ ⠀ OK, I know I don't paint super-realistically, but there is the connection between the true beauty found in the real world and the poetry that's translated in the designs filled with all kinds of shapes from my imagination.⠀ ⠀ The painting process IS the art.⠀ ⠀
One of my favorite parts of the painting process is color development. I never use paints straight from the tube. Instead, I like to mix them until the shades feel right and nicely complement the other colors. ⠀ ⠀ One of my favorite color combinations is brown with blue. Did you know that for many brown is the least favorite color? Well, I think it can be tricky to find a nice hue, but it can really add depth to other shades.⠀ ⠀
Loving what you do is such an advantage. I love my jobs and am thankful for all of them - mother, painter, designer. ⠀ ⠀ Balancing everything is sometimes a bit challenging, but I just try to do my best to avoid overwhelm. ⠀
New Year: new ambitions, hopes and dreams. ⠀ ⠀ So what is my biggest hope? To be better organized and have more time for painting. Last year was awesome, I learned Illustrator and many new opportunities opened up. But their is just something so magical about getting messy and forgetting the outside world when you immerse yourself in the poetry of painting.⠀ ⠀
This time of the year I really start missing the greenery around me. On a gloomy day like today I feel like counting the days till spring...until then just painting brightly colorful watercolors helps me get through those grey days. What helps you get through the cold winter days? In the background, print of my watercolor painting.✨
We are in the first full week of 2019. After the busy holiday season, I’m busy planning and setting goals for the New Year. I still have to work on my organization skills and focus on the tasks at hand, so my goal for this year is consistency. Achieving big goals sometimes feels so overwhelming, but breaking it up into smaller daily assignments makes it so much easier! A great planner can be your best friend. Do you have a favorite planner? Please share it in the comment! I’m still in search of a good one!

Since I was a teenager I had a love affair with beautiful fabric. I learned how to sew and make my own clothing. I just love how the colors and forms of the patterns unfold on a fabric with that incredible soft feeling.
