A short note on how to test/verify your astral experiences. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Astral work is rewarding in itself, and it allows for introspection and self-development. However, if your astral work is to be more than creative imagination, you must at some point confront the question: ”Is this only my imagination?” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now, before we begin, your imagination is bigger than you think, so there is no such thing as ”only your imagination”. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But … as we all kow, that answer is not enough for most of us. But how to you test the veracity and independence if your experiences? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The only sure way, as far as I know, is if you come away from the astral with information that you could not have known previously. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But alas! Most things that we encounter (in the physical or astral) are not that clear-cut. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is why I recommend using gematria. Ask for a word, a name, or anything like that. When you return, look up the numerological value of the name, using ”Sepher Sephiroth”, ”Godwin’s Cabalistic Encyclopedia” or similar. With practice you should be able to find very clear correspondrnces between your astral destination and the word. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For example, I recently did a Yesod working, asked for a name, and recieved ”Li...u” [redacted]. Upon returning, I immediately discovered that the name had the same exact numerological value as ”Yesodoth”. I was also given a second word, which turned out to be an ancient concept that actually existed, connected with an entity of Yesod. In another working, I travelled in the elenent if earth, and was given two names. They corresponded to ”Aretz” (the hebrew name for earth) and ”Kerub” (the ruler of earth).
I’m very happy to see my essay on esoteric dreamwork (with a Thelemic perspective) – ”Awakening the Dreamer” – published in OTO Sweden’s excellent magazine ’Solståndet’ (’The Solstice’). Last month I also held a two hour lecture on this subject at the @deusesthomo lodge in Gothenburg, Sweden – something which I would be more than willing to do again.
”Hear me, and make all Spirits subject unto Me; so that every Spirit of the Firmament and of the Ether: upon the Earth and under the Earth, on dry land and in the water; of Whirling Air, and of rushing Fire, and every Spell and Scourge of God may be obedient unto Me.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Excerpt from Liber Samekh. Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This weekend we installed our new lodge master. Here is a detail of our excellent cake, which we enjoyed together with a few glasses of cognac. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Love is the law, love under will
Magick was my first love. It was love at first sight, and it showed a way through the void, a glimmer of light in the emptiness of being. It filled the rest of my life with light, life, love and liberty. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Oh, how I hated this, how I was ashamed! It was like a filthy secret which penetrated my being. Who, in their right mind, would follow hhe path of Magick? It seemed like the path of the underdeveloped, the under-achiever, a walk through the shadows. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today I am reborn, my first love calls ever deeper. I know that I was wrong. Oh, could I fling myself into the abyss! IAO
Some perspectives on the Abbey of Thelema (part IX). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Betty May – whose husband Raoul Loveday died at the Abbey of Thelema in Cefalù, Sicily, in 1923 – is an interesting character in herself. Her autobiography, ”Tiger Woman”, offers an often amazing first-hand view of the abbey. Even if her main objective is to show the awfulness of the place. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ She sold the story of her husband’s death to the press. Publications which led to a media scandal of modern proportions. Allegations against the ”devil-worshippers” in Cefalù reached a fever pitch, leading to Aleister Crowley recieving the still famous title ”the wickedest man alive”. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The book (”Tiger Woman”) however, is surprisingly balanced, given the animosity that Betty May held against Crowley. Even if the rumours said that her husband died from drinking the blood of a cat during a black mass, May describes his death as a result of drinking bad water from a stream. Something that Crowley, according to May, had warned against. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Some of the highlights of the book include vivid descriptions of the temple in the Abbey, and a phonetic rendering of the Thelemic version of the qabalistic cross. The actual words being ”Ateh, Aiwass, Malkuth, Ve-geburah, Ve-gedulah, Le-olahm Amen” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My copy of the book was very difficult to find, but nowadays there exists a reprint in paperback format.
“But to love me is better than all things: if under the night stars in the desert thou presently burnest mine incense before me, invoking me with a pure heart, and the Serpent flame therein, thou shalt come a little to lie in my bosom. For one kiss wilt thou then be willing to give all; but whoso gives one particle of dust shall lose all in that hour. Ye shall gather goods and store of women and spices; ye shall wear rich jewels; ye shall exceed the nations of the earth in spendour & pride; but always in the love of me, and so shall ye come to my joy. I charge you earnestly to come before me in a single robe, and covered with a rich headdress. I love you! I yearn to you! Pale or purple, veiled or voluptuous, I who am all pleasure and purple, and drunkenness of the innermost sense, desire you. Put on the wings, and arouse the coiled splendour within you: come unto me!” / Liber AL
The Gnostic Creed of Thelema: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ”I believe in one secret and ineffable LORD; and in one Star in the Company of Stars of whose fire we are created, and to which we shall return; and in one Father of Life, Mystery of Mystery, in His name CHAOS, the sole viceregent of the Sun upon the Earth; and in one Air the nourisher of all that breathes. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And I believe in one Earth, the Mother of us all, and in one Womb wherein all men are begotten, and wherein they shall rest, Mystery of Mystery, in Her name BABALON. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And I believe in the Serpent and the Lion, Mystery of Mystery, in His name BAPHOMET. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And I believe in one Gnostic and Catholic Church of Light, Life, Love and Liberty, the Word of whose Law is THELEMA. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And I believe in the communion of Saints. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And, forasmuch as meat and drink are transmuted in us daily into spiritual substance, I believe in the Miracle of the Mass. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And I confess one Baptism of Wisdom whereby we accomplish the Miracle of Incarnation. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And I confess my life one, individual, and eternal that was, and is, and is to come. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ AUMGN. AUMGN. AUMGN.”
”Here [in Malkuth] is the end of all energy; it is away from the ’formative world’ altogether, where things are elastic. So far as the Sephira is concerned, it is right down in the world of Assiah. By the mere fact of having devised four elements, the current has derogated from the original perfection.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ (The Book of Thoth)
”Nu! the hiding of Hadit.” Today is the second day of the writing of Liber AL vel Legis, the Book of the Law. The Egyptian cat statuette wathes over the inner room in the temple where we first read chapter two, and then performed a very powerful Liber V vel Reguli.
