Blog post of the day...Maymont Gardens in Richmond, Virginia (10 images in this post - swipe left!!) Maymont is definitely on the top of Richmond’s “must-visit” list. Maymont is a 100-acre Victorian estate, nature center, arboretum, botanical garden, and farm in the heart of the city. From the wise bison in the nature center to fields of echinacea to black rat snakes to popsicles and old trees, Maymont is incredibly beautiful. There is no fee for admission and is worth braving intense heat for! I hope you enjoy! #rva#nikonphoto#nikonphotography#nikon
Saturday blog post of the day...Maymont Gardens in Richmond, Virginia (3 photos in this post - swipe left!!)🌹The Maymont Gardens are absolutely a must-visit if/when you travel to Richmond. From farm life to animals to insanely beautiful flowers, Maymont is truly a must-visit. I took so many photos today! Let’s start with the animals - goat, bison, and a very, VERY angry Canadian goose. 😂 I hope you enjoy! #animallovers
Friday blog post of the day...SUMMER HEAT 🔥🔥 It is 95 degrees today here in Richmond, Virginia - it’s definitely disconcerting that it’s not even June and the heat is already close to unbearable. I took this photo of my son in 2011 as I was preparing to shoot my first wedding. I was learning to use a #nikon#nikonphotography#nikonphoto 70-200mm f/2.8 lens. I figured the photo is fitting for a steamy hot day that’s approaching summer. I hope you enjoy!
Thursday blog post of the day...color street photography 😊 I firmly believe that part of street photography is being at the right place at the right time. This photo is a great example - I happened to be eating dinner at a downtown Richmond, Virginia restaurant and happened to catch this shot (yes, I even take my camera out to dinner 😂😂😂). Image taken with a #fujifilm#fuji#mirrorless body and a #nikon#nikonphotography#nikonphoto compatible #50mm#sigma#macro#macrophotography lens. I hope you enjoy!
Sunday blog post of the day...May mums (10 images in this post - swipe left!!) ❤️ When there are no new flowers nearby to photograph, I do the next best thing. I buy them from the florist! I’m not a huge chrysanthemum fan but I do love this variety of mums. All images taken about an hour ago with a #fujifilm#fuji#mirrorless body and a #nikonphotography#nikon compatible #50mm#sigma#macro lens. I hope you enjoy 😊
Saturday blog post of the day...climate change and humanity 🌎 There are 7,346,235,000 people living on the planet earth. That’s a lot of people - a LOT. National Geographic did a beautiful series called “7 Billion” several years ago. I was fortunate enough to listen to the former editor-in-chief Chris Johns present the video “7 Billion” in Rappahannock County, Virginia and it forever changed the way I view the world. We live in a world of people who feel the undeniable effects of climate change every day. It’s not even June and it was really, really hot here in Richmond today. It gets worse every year - that’s a fact. It’s science. Summers in the Piedmont region of Virginia are really hot and humid and they get worse every year. During this time of year, let’s take some time to remember the impact our actions have on our one and only planet earth. Summer’s gonna be hot... #virginia#earth#human#humanrace
Blog post of the day...black rat snakes 😮 (3 photos in this post - swipe left!!) Black rat snakes are found throughout Virginia and they’re totally and completely harmless. I’ve shared the second two photos before but I’m pretty sure I haven’t shared the first. They’re beautiful snakes and, every now and then, you find them in urban areas. These photos were taken almost exactly a year ago - a black rat snake emerged and I quickly grabbed my trusty Nikon. I hope you enjoy! #nikon#nikonphotography#nikonphoto#nikon_photography
Thursday blog post of the day...bees and sunflowers (10 images in this post - swipe left!!)🌻I received some sunflowers for Mother’s Day and was finally able to take some photos of them. While taking photos, a bee flew into my shot and just hung out with me - it was awesome! Here are 10 images of sunflowers and several of them have a beautiful bee in them. I hope you enjoy! #savethebees#bees#sunflowers#sunflower

Monday blog post of the day...street photography, documentary photography, and flowers ❤️ (10 images in this post - swipe left!!) I’ve taken a good amount of photos over the past month-and-a-half. I’ve explored so many flowers, new places in Richmond, and a small portion of the Appalachian Trail (image 10). Every month or so I like to go through recent photos and put together at least one collective series of the work I’ve done recently. Here’s one such series - from the first documentary portrait (Hollywood Cemetery) to nature photography (flowers) to landscape photography (the Appalachian Trail), there’s a little bit of everything. 😊 Visit Virginia - I promise you won’t be disappointed!! I hope you enjoy! #rva#virginia

It’s been a while since I have taken new street photography photos and I had the opportunity to snap a few this morning. I use every opportunity I can to share the stories of this amazing city. Friday blog post of the day...my beautiful border collie 💕 (2 images in this post. - swipe left!!) Meet Bowie, my beautiful border collie Australian shepherd mix (he’s named after #davidbowie - one brown eye and one blue eye). He was rescued from a kill shelter in Kentucky. We’ll never know why he was left at a kill shelter, but I have a pretty good idea. Border collies are beautiful, loving, extremely loyal, and really smart. They’re also very intense and incredibly high energy. They aren’t the right breed for everyone - research before you adopt/buy! I hope you enjoy 😊 #adoptdontshop#rescuedog#adopt
Blog post of the day...gorgeous white irises (6 images in this post - swipe left!!) It was a really long day at work and I needed some decompression time so I, of course, snagged some photos of my neighbor’s irises. I hope you enjoy! #iris#flowerlover#flowerstagram#instaflower
